I'd ask for a do-over, but I don't wanna go to work again.

Man. Apparently, writing Kendra fic and ending up late for work was a sign. I should have stayed in bed.

Because I was typing, rather than eating breakfast, I only managed to scarf half my bowl of cheerios. That was at 7:15. By 1 pm, when I went to lunch, I was starving. (and, yes, I have oatmeal at work but a) I had no bowl, b) until about 11, my stomach was acting up and telling food to fuck off)

I got out to Moya (I didn't bring lunch, which, THANK GOD), and discovered my back right tire was flat as a pancake. Luckily, the car next to me on that side was gone. Also luckily, they plow our lot, so there wasn't six inches of snow to deal with.

Unfortunately for me, getting to the donut meant pulling two purple bins out of the trunk, and some other things (the bins have been there since christmas, and will stay there until I have somewhere to put them. The two bottles of water dad helpfully gave me have been frozen solid for weeks. *snort*). Luckily, my donut is an awesome donut, and was not flat (thank goodness).

I had to stop to dig in the back seat for the pair of magic stretch gloves, because my fingers were frozen (I'd planned on running through the drive-through and not needing gloves, so the thick winter ones were back at my desk).

While I was loosening the lug nuts, a very nice man stopped to see if I needed help. I appreciate it, dude, really. But if I'm there, I'd rather change my tire, since I hate twiddling my thumbs and watching someone else do it (now, taking it to a shop is different, 'cause I can go sit somewhere nice and all). He was, however, very doubtful until I mentioned that, really, in daylight in the parking lot at work was a lot nicer a place to change a tire than, say, I-94 at three in the morning just outside of downtown Chicago (for the record, 12:30 at night in a bad neighborhood and a deserted street in St. Louis is still the worst place I've ever changed a tire, but I94 at 3am is dead smack behind it).

I hope I thanked the guy enough, but, really, I was just chugging along at the lug nuts (tighter than normal, since I got Moya's tires rotated a while back).

My dad would be proud, btw, I used his blocks of wood (which have faithfully traveled in the backseat since christmas) to block the tires so she wouldn't roll (it was icy, so I suppose it was possible).

Then came the hard part: placing the jack. Luckily, I have a pretty decent jack that's easy to use. And a big-ass winter coat that, when spread out on top of the ice and snow and cold black-top is perfect for laying down on so you can muck about under the car.

After that, it was a cinch, even if right now my knees are bitching about the kneeling and crouching and my shoulders aren't pleased.

Once I'd packed the car back up, I got in and headed for lunch (half an hour late, which blew).

Thirty seconds later, I realized I was shaking like a leaf.

I just love it when my blood sugar crashes. 'Cause, let me tell you, there is nothing like driving with hands that are shaking almost too hard to grip the steering wheel.

I'm fairly sure the chick at the drive-in window thought I was high, since I nearly dropped my money, handing it to her.

Work passed in a fun blur of being so cold I was huddled under my coat, drinking four cups of hot tea with sugar, and a headache that still won't go away.

Getting a new tire took two hours, since Sams was so busy, and I get the fun fun task of putting it on tomorrow. I'm thinking of using the parking lot at the Pick'n'Save, since using the back is not really an option.

Ack... what a horrible day, hon. At least it's over and now you have the weekend to recuperate.

I hope you feel better soon!

*snuggles* Thank you. I ordered pizza for dinner, and there are cookies.

Possibly, I will make tea, as well.

Wow, what a crappy day. *hugs* You need some brandy in your tea I think. Have fun with your tire today!

*snuggles* I considered the irish cream. It was quite quite tempting, I must say.
