dear ff'net readers,

surprisingly, there is more Sam Anders and Kara Thrace fic. But you fuckers don't leave feedback, so you don't get anymore. this is not actually true, as I feel the need to annoy the Kara/Lee fuckers a lot by posting more of what makes them wail and gnash their teeth

seriously, it's fucking depressing to see Kara/Lee writers get showered with love for writing Kara/Anders fic when mine is utterly ignored.

in other news, though, the Dee/Lee fic has garnered two requests for a continuation. o.O What part of 'completed' do these people not get?

...I was going to type something, but I forgot. Hrm.

I do enjoy your Sam and Kara ... they're snarky, sexy, and (relatively) angst-free...

I do apologize for the lack of comments...
but ... (in a teeny tiny voice) ...
... I feel very intimidated commenting on your journal...

sorry

Thank you. But that still doesn't really help when 90% of the feedback Kara/Lee authors get on their Kara/Anders fic is "I wish there was more Kara/Anders!" and the fic I write, which is 99.9% Kara/Anders? Has not a single comment on it.

Sigh... At least you can take comfort that your fic is actually well written. ;)

Most of it isn't that bad, though.

I figure it's much like how when liz h8ters write liz fic and get showered with praise for doing such a wonderful job showing what a horrible bitch she is. My guess is the kara/lee shippers who write kara/anders fic have similar goals. Then again, I haven't bothered to check; I'm basing my assessment on common writing patterns in fandom.

Possibly. In my more cynical moments, I certainly ascribe that motive to them. (much as I do to boyslashers who 'dabble' in het, and want praise for it) I mean. At least when it's obvious they're writing Sam Anders as a horrible asshole, I can completely ignore it.

Wait, I just got a brilliant idea! I can write a slashfic specifically to receive positive feedback complimenting on my willingness to write something I don't care about at all! (As a general rule, anyway). Except, actually, Keith and I did that once (http://www.fictionalart.com/temp/fic_momentarylapse.html) and it did get a lot of feedback and I don't think a single person realized it was sillyfic.

Been there, more than once, iirc. Although I tend to not get much feedback, either way. And now I'm remembering the long ago challenge on OTL to write fic under a pseudonym to test whether people followed names vs. good writing.

So do I. I almost participated but decided it was too much bother since I get very little feedback, regardless. I don't remember how it turned out, though.

It was inconclusive, iirc. Some people read more authors, no matter what/who they are. Some people are very picky, etc.

Ah, yes, I feel that one.

Srsly. I mean. I know that it's awesome to want more fic from people, but it's not like it's a multi-chaptered romance novel!

Oh, I know. In fact, I love you guys on LJ. It's just--it pisses me off, on ff'net, when I see "gosh, I wish there was more Kara/Anders" in feedback to other authors, but not a single one comments on my very obviously Kara/Anders fics.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Where was this other Kara/Anders, perchance? Whenever I go there I only see Kara/Lee or Adama/Roslin.

[livejournal.com profile] greycoupon told me to check out this one fic there that was just ... okay, ever since I've started writing, I've been WAY more charitable. But this was ... I mean ... "Gius Baltar." They couldn't even spell the names of major characters correctly! And Kara had a baby, and called her Ni Ni. And they named the dog Adama. And that's not even scrathing the surface of the utterly horrible. And it had HUNDREDS of reviews. So yeah, I'll never submit anything there because the lack of reviews would totally crush me, given what they'll go for. Or maybe it's a compliment?

AHAHAH. That's kinda sad, yes.

Mostly, I post there to annoy the 'shippers who freak over a ship they don't like showing up. I'm ornery like that.

But occasionally, I like a little validation from them, too.
