comics! comics! comics! Sorta...
So, really, unless this gets incredibly long and rambly, I probably won't cut-tag (for one thing, lack of spoilers).
Out of curiosity (the kind that killed the cat, mind), I flipped through the BSG: Pegasus comic. Oh, man. That was some really bad writing, there. We're talking Highlander: The Source bad, here. There is woe, there is angst, there is Cain pretending to be Human, there is Cain's Daddy killing himself in front of her (I'm sorry, was that a spoiler? */sarcastic*), there are two panels of Gina, Doral and Simon (oh, hey, they remembered Simon! Go, you!), there is a complete and utter lack of any other female character in the entire book. It's all boys, and Cain. But Cain has balls, so I don't think she counts.
At least the artist (Brandon Jerwa, spelling uninterested) seems to have seen a few anatomy books since he was pulling Sharon's spine out of alignment on his BSG covers. That still doesn't help, though, as his art is incredibly hurried-looking. I think he was trying to pull off a homage to Nigel Raynor's BSG comic stuff, though, and... it doesn't work.
Then, after laughing at it, I set it down and moved over to pick up the latest issue of Year Zero. The artist has apparently read one too many Alex Ross book, because he's trying to make the panels look painted (though more in the style of the guy who was on Peter David's Captain Marvel run), and instead, it just makes them look even uglier.
Dualla is still a Lieutenant, according to whatsisface. Makes you wonder what poor Dee did to get demoted before the mini-series.
And the plot is... Oh, man. Just. Hero was bad enough, but this? Is worse. So much worse. The only bright spot is the Kara and HeloCaprica Random Planet Road Show. Well, it would be a bright spot if it were well-written.
Luckily, I have more than sense enough to leave them at the comic store. Instead, I grabbed the latest issue of Buffy (what? there are women beating people up!)
And lemme just say: GILES, I STILL LOVE YOU HARDCORE. And Faith is the bestest. *sniffle* Byebye Mr. Vaughn. (and, yes, predictable, blah, blah, angstcakes. BUT GILES AND FAITH.)

As far as I'm concerned, despite having no Sam Anders, the 12-issue comicbook was better written, with stronger female characters than the entirety of season three. I will re-read the comic. I will probably never actually re-watch a good portion of season three, because it sucked so much ass, and there isn't a single female character they didn't drive into the ground.
