um. um.
Kara fell out of bed, landing on the platform their barely-big-enough-for-the-both-of-them cot sat on. She blinked, trying to figure out why she'd jerked awake and rolled like that.
"What the frak?" Sam mumbled, moving to the edge and staring down at her in the early morning light. "Kara?"
He sounded like he'd been asleep for a week, his voice rusty and barely audible. "It's cold," she noted, shoving up and pushing at his shoulder so she could climb back in.
"'K." He moved, giving her barely enough room to lay down again.
So she elbowed him, "You're takin' up too much room, Sam," her voice was definitely a little whiny. But it was cold, and she was going to have a bruise in the morning from her ungraceful landing on the platform, and he was big and annoying her.
"Nowhere else for me to go," he defended, his voice clearing a little.
Kara glared at him, then shifted up to see if he was right. He mostly was, though he'd definitely spread out more. "Sam."
"'Sides, I'm bigger'n'you, take up more space." He suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her half onto him. "There. Warm now." His voice became muffled as he buried his face in her neck.
"You're warmer, you mean. My ass is hanging out in the cold." Yanking at the blankets he'd gotten trapped under her, Kara growled a little.
"Never satisfied," was Sam's comment as he grudgingly moved and wriggled in an effort to help her get the blankets free.
"And whose fault would that be?"
He paused, hand flat against her back, then began to chuckle.
"Sam." Kara shoved at him. "I'm COLD."
"Uh-huh."
She growled.
Laughing still, he shifted and succeeded in getting the blankets free. "Here. Now stop complaining."
Shoving an elbow at him, making him grunt, Kara pulled the warm quilt up. "I bet half the settlement would alibi me if I killed you."
"Uh-huh."
"Some of 'em might even thank me."
"Uh-huh."
Kara paused, then sighed and relaxed against him, suddenly tired again. "Maybe I'll kill you tomorrow. You are kinda warm and useful."
"They can thank you tomorrow," Sam said, breaking out into a yawn and groping her.
"Yeah."

I think Katee's brilliant but no matter what your 'ship, my strategy woud be to take whatever comments you like and ignore the rest. 'Cause she changes her mind so often - she and Jamie Bamber both, not that I blame them. So, since I'm personally up for anything except Kara/Leoben, I'll take the "sick!" and fanwank away the "only one she can be herself around." :D

But, no, I don't know what Katee said about MR, other than calling BW a clusterfrak. I'll be really disappointed in her, in all honesty, though. It's hard enough for women to get good, action-oriented acting jobs without other women cutting them out (also, I really don't think Katee would have been any better at Jaime, because the writers aren't all that good with her. Her only plus there, would have been not having to act with a different accent).

Also, man, I'm still not sure how he and Helo fit into normal-sized racks on Galactica. Frakkin' giants.
Oh, I know. And normally I do, but then I was wondering if I was subconsciously putting that spin on the story, because I'd heard it. Besides, I'm certainly not going to call for her head on a platter--I'll leave that to the Kara/Lee shippers when she displeases them.
Besides, on the whole, she's called Lee and Kara 'soulmates' more often. *snerk*

So yeah, besides what I just said, Katee reportedly never said anything about MR specifically, but this person got a vibe that they didn't like each other somehow. I think she might be reading too much into it this one time. And of course now people are hypothesizing everything from Katee being the wicked witch of the west to MR throwing a tantrum and getting Katee fired for upstaging her. (And this is part of why it's hard for women in the industry.)
The episode I thought MR was far and away the best in was the one where she posed as a British exchange student, so I think the accent is a big part of the problem. Which makes you wonder why they couldn't just let her be a displaced Brit. to begin with? JB was nearly a decade older and much more experienced when he was cast as Lee, and honestly I think he did struggle a bit at the very beginning, as good as he is now. I feel pretty bad for her because TPTB cast her without an audition, and now she's the scapegoat for everything that's wrong with their show, when really the writing is a much bigger issue, I think. (in other words, ditto, heh)

I don't know if that's the vibe I got. I think there's a large problem in that she is trying not to say bad things about the show, but yet, trying to say things that are true. The impression I've gotten of MR is that she's as young as Katee was when she first started BSG, in terms of her ability to deal with the press.
And I honestly wouldn't blame either of them if there was friction--everyone says Katee's the best thing on the show, and MR is the weak spot. I imagine that has got to be awful to hear, over and over again.
Sigh.
Jamie's comment was that, basically, when you're working with a different accent, you have no room for spontaneity, and so you end up being flat and lifeless, until the accent becomes second nature (re-watching the mini shows JB is NOT as fluid as he is now, and even bits of season one, there are flat moments).
So I honestly don't blame MR as much as most people. And I do think she's gotten better (I've also got a meta-y post about why I think Katee's not so bad in the show, given that she's probably gotten 50000% less direction than MR.) er. *stops rambing*
