minific: Reboot, femslash, Dot/Mouse, PGish

She's not supposed to stick around. Hit and run, in and out, and she's done. But they hired her and now she's stuck around a little too long, and she cares. Mouse doesn't like caring, doesn't like waking in the morning and wondering if this is yet another day that they won't hear from Bob or the squirt.

But she does like waking with flesh pressed against hers. Likes turning and kissing the recently-tattooed shoulder, sliding her hand down Dot's arm and tangling their fingers.

It's not sentimental, it's practical--if she doesn't, Dot could lash out and punch her, in reflex.

The light coming in is always too dark-Dot wakes them both too early with her restlessness and her nightmares. Mouse understands nightmares, but she's beginning to learn the rhythm of another person, and she thinks maybe that scares her a little.

Dot always turns before Mouse can get up and away from their tangle. Like she gets that Mouse wants up and out and gone.

It's the little things that did Mouse in. The touches and looks, the tears she showed no one else. The shudder in her body when Mouse kissed her hungrily. The way they don't have to talk when things get bad, Dot just pushes her against the wall, more aggressive than Mouse ever expected.

But in the morning, it's not anger that drives Dot, it's something else. Something more melancholy than Mouse thinks she should ever feel.

Then it's not just sex and wanting to feel. It's making love, as boys like Bob might say, kids raised in a place where the air was rarefied and people didn't sell their souls for a scrap of bread.

And afterwards, they get up and go about their day, trying to keep Mainframe from falling into complete chaos.

It's not easy, and Mouse could leave anytime she wants. But she doesn't, and maybe that scares her more than anything else does. Not even Megabyte.

I'm always so happy to find femslash with this pairing. (thanks Google!) Even better when it's *good* femslash! Are you considering writing any more?

Thank you =)

Er, maybe? It's one of those things that's hard to write for, unfortunately.

Most welcome.

I've noticed that, I've been trying to write some myself for years. I like to think that one day I'll succeed. One day.
