lyssie: (Kara Anders gonna hurt)

bleh.

It was very tempting to go back to sleep and 'sleep through my alarm' this morning. I don't think I would have even felt guilty about it.

And now I'm having cold pizza for breakfast. Really, I should go to the store and get milk again, one of these days. And maybe some hot dog buns, although this time, I'll stick half in the freezer.

I have... BSG meta in my head about how the women get very stereotypical Girl things happening to them, while the men are all over the board. Maybe I'll get it organized one day. Mostly, I find that canon turns the girls into girls, and I don't exactly blame most of fandom for thinking Kara would settle down and be all baby-popping.

*considers* *thefts Captain Jack*

It's gonna be one of those days. I can tell already.

oh, I totally blame fandom for baby!fic. It's like a disease common trope somewhere on the list after h/c and killing off the unwanted half of a canon ship to float one's OTP...

My brewing rant of the day is on "that word doesn't mean what you think it means"; or the dilution of both Mary Sue and jumping the shark into general "I don't like it" complaints. I should let it go, but I find the terms in their original meanings useful, and I hate how they've become this meaningless pejorative that people fling around, trying to be clever. grrr

And clearly I should stop reading the Heroes forum at TWOP, it always manages to irritate me.

AHAHAH. Yes. And this is not to say that fandom isn't a little bit right, though.

But. But. I also just realized, that I've apparently come to terms with Sam Anders, Cylon King. Because, y'know, that makes him a pretty damned suitable consort for Kara Thrace, Ascended Being...

Sam would like to point out that it's Cylon GOD, thankyouverymuch, and of course he's the right person to play guitar and backup singer in Kara's Special Destiny Band.

Helo, Father of the Shape of Things To Come, plays drums.

Oh. Right. SORRY SORRY SAM.

So, we've got... Vocals, lead guitar, drums. Sharon plays rhythm guitar, and sometimes, Kara plays the triangle (but she's more likely to throw it at someone in the audience).

Billy's their manager.

And Leoben plays the bass. *nods* And once in a while Lee comes on stage as a second back-up singer, but that's only in select cities...

Occasionally, they need extra percussion, so Cally sits in while Chief plays the banjo.

You should write it! I do feel like the women get placed in the victim and/or seductress role way too often on BSG. Which is too bad because the strong female roles were what pulled me into the show in the first place. The first episode I watched was The Captain's Hand and I just loved how there were women all over the place, not just one or two sprinkled in. We had Roslin, Tory and Sarah Porter working the government and Starbuck and Showboat on the Pegasus. Of course, that episode was about as good as it was ever going to get.

I didn't actually mind the Kacey subplot as much as I thought I would. I've never read baby-fic where Kara has to go rescue her kidlet with a knife the size of her arm. :D

SHE STOLE SAM'S KNIFE. How could I not ship them horribly after that???
