Countrycide
I imagine there are some people who were only casually watching TW, who have stopped now.
But because I rather adored large bits of it, I decided to rewatch bits...
1. The scene with Gwen and Owen against the tree was probably very interesting to shoot, given the way they're all in each other's space and faces.
2. Owen nearly pukes at the first body, but Gwen loses it at the second.
3. Gwen gets shot in the abdomen--albeit, on the right side, and it misses anything vital--and gets right back up again and keeps on kicking ass. Seriously. How could I not love this? She has a job, and she doesn't let anything stop her, not even the excruciating pain from her midsection.
4. The episode is wonderfully creepy.
5. Owen is so very protective of Gwen. It's not something I noticed the first time round, but it's there, this time. And, yeah, it could just be because he wants to sleep with her, but it could also be because she's part of his team, and he's an ass, but you don't mess with his people.
6. Jack crashing through the doors and shooting everyone is still awesome.
7. No, seriously, Gwen is fucking awesome in this, and the choices she makes are painful and irrational and terribly human, and I love that about her. I love that she had to know and that the answer broke her and sent her mad. I love that she tried to let it go, but there wasn't any way to explain to Rhys--and I'm not sure he'd understand. No one who hadn't experienced being covered in blood with cannibals talking about eating you could understand.
8. Speaking of the blood, I love that people got injured and shot at and bloody and it wasn't magically wiped away between scenes. They were still filthy and bloodstained in the end, too.
