Elizabeth Swann is essentially a composite of Mary and Anne though most the facts are heavily muddied by popular mythology.
And I definitely don't know what those terms mean.
They're methods of hanging sails off masts, esp as used by schooners and other triangular sailed vessels such as junks.

Cam, for her part, looks amused. "Don't you two ever get tired of that?"
"Of what?" Brennan glances at Booth, "Are we partners?"
