Yeah, well, the whole thing just tends to baffle me for the same reasons. But then, I also grew up wanting to be any number of female characters, because they were awesome, and created my own character just to hang out with the awesomeness.

Yeah. Sigh. It just baffles me, not liking female characters. I tried to make a list, once, of the ones I didn't like. And I kept coming up with things like 'only dislike when the writers talk about her', and 'if she were a man, I'd hate her', and... etc.
See, and for SGA the anti-vagina sentiment makes NO sense cause it's so obvious that EVERYONE on that show is completely homosexual. Yes, there are fewer women that the show focuses on, but they're still gay too.
And I LOVE and totally need to swipe your new icon :-)
Personally, part of the reason why I'm not happy about Carter coming to Atlantis is: 1. They're bumping Weir in favor of her, which sucks, 2. They never really *used* Weir to her full potential, which sucks, and 3. I'm not a Carter fan on SG-1, and if they write her exactly like they do on SG-1, i. I'm not going to like it and ii. they're going to screw up the character development they've already done, with Sheppard and McKay (and you knowI'm not talking Sheppard/McKay, so).
*nods* I know. And every time this comes up, no one ever believes me when I say there are other reasons to be unhappy Sam's coming on board.
Of course, if the Sam and Rodney dynamic doesn't shift from stupid antagonistic crap early on, it's going to be annoying. Mostly because Rodney will spend entire episodes whining.
If they have the crappy plot device that they've already used to death, where Certain Death is on the line, and it's Sam Vs. Rodney in terms of ideas - if they have it be that Rodney Is Wrong (for no good reason) and the Entirety of Atlantis Rallies Around Sam, I will vomit.
Ah, yes. Radek, too. I think part of it is that SGA's plots have not been spectacular, and so, without interesting character stuff, it becomes somewhat unwatchable. Here's hoping they don't screw it all up, I suppose...
*shrugs* Doesn't really matter. SciFi's unlikely to renew for a fifth season, regardless of plots, shiny, or...anything short of doubling the audience, really.
Shame on them - you'd think the new parents would have been gloating over their production and telling everyone where to go find the pics online of the munchkin. :)
And if you want to see anti-vagina sentiment, you should see the comments at the TV Guide blog when they posted the promo photos of the new chicks coming to Supernatural. Made me want to reach through my computer screen and strangle people.
