girls, girls, help me out here...

'milf' is an insult, yes?

Well, I guess it would depend on your POV... MILF - as I know it - usually described a Mom that was still 'hot' enough for the teenage guys to drool over. While a rather crude way of putting it... it was originally meant to be a compliment.

[identity profile] thedorkygirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
No. It's a damn hot mama. Like, you wouldn't say it to a MILF's face, but you'd say it to her son, and you'd talk about hot young teachers that way. But only if the lady is old enough to be their mother, I guess. Hmm. Oh, bother, maybe it is, but I've never seen it that way.

I think so yes, but I think I'm in the minority on that one. I see girls wearing "MILF in Training" shirts all the time ...

WTF?

I think I'll get my sister that shirt. It's especially apt for a pregnant chick.

It's actually older than the movie... I went to High School before American Pie came out and several of the guys that I knew used the term.

And I even remember a group of guys getting PISSED during the movie cause the movie 'stole their word'.

From the standpoint of objectification, yes. Hotness over everything else about the person. A reduction.

But it's viewed as a compliment, typically.

Whee.

Not always, depends on the context and the viewer.

As I understand it, it means, "Older woman, but hot/fuckable." There are plenty of objectionable concepts you can unpack from that assessment, but it's intended as a compliment.

its not an insult for most people, its quite desirable to some.

however, call me a milf, and i'll smack you.

Insulting, yes. Meant as an insult, no. But that's because most men (or women) who use it don't realize that what they're saying is that maternity isn't attractive in their eyes.

So being a mom who's hot is out of the norm, huh? Pppfft.

[identity profile] rosewildeirish.livejournal.com 2007-08-14 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Mother I'd Like to Fuck - insult if a. you're not old enough to be a mom, or b. dislike being regarded as just something to fuck, I suppose.

*shrug*

I don't see it as an insult. Well, no more insulting than 'chick', 'bird', 'hottie' etc. I can see why some people would find it insulting because it seemingly has to state that the woman in question is a mother, for reasons unknown, but some women seem to like that aknowledgement. Especially if they haven't felt particularly attractive or desirable after having kids/after their kids become teens/adults. *shrugs*
