Disobeying orders...

On a completely different note. Someone during the wank claimed that Sam was constantly disobeying orders and never getting in trouble for it. This confused me, a lot, because it's JACK O'NEILL who does the orders-ignoring with no consequances.

However. In the interests of fairness (and I am always fair), a list should be compiled. Of every time Sam, Jack, Daniel, Teal'c, Cam and Hammond disobey orders. SG-1 as a whole fall under their own category. Vala.... I'm not sure they've ever really given Vala a direct order.

What I've got so far... Also, certain to contain spoilers for seasons 1-10.

SG-1
1. Enigma. They broke Narim and his annoying friends out.
2. Within the Serpent's Grasp. Big one. Broke back into the SGC to save the world. O'Neill and Carter got commendations.
3. Teal'c. All of seasons 1-2 has SG-1 as a whole keeping Teal'c out of the grasp of the government--sometimes, against orders.
4. Upgrades, except for Teal'c.

Jack.
1. Merrin. Taking her off-base, and to that school was against orders. Didn't even get a glare from anyone, as far as I recall.
2. Chain Reaction. Resigned and skulked around with Harry, pointed a gun at Kinsey and got his job back. No consequances.

Sam.
1. er.... Does Gemini count? Sam never had an order to stop sharing information with Replicarter. Although, in the end, she does think it's all her fault and she's crestfallen.
2. Singularity. Sam went back down to Cassie, against Jack's orders. No consequances.
3. Bloodlines. Daniel drags her off to kill baby eels. Jack glared.

Daniel.
1. Bloodlines. Sam drags him off to kill baby eels. Jack glared.

Teal'c.
1. Jaffa Revenge. Covers more than a few episodes. Had to be deprogrammed, as a result of Apophis' influence.
2. Jaffa Revenge: mk II. Killed a guy, beat up SG-1. No consequances.

Cam
none

Hammond.
1. Season three. Went through the gate to rescue SG-1, probably against the orders of the Pentagon, though it's not clear. No consequances.

Daniel- (Need) Ran to save that chick who was thinking of throwing herself off a cliff, despite Jack commanding him to stop. Ended up addicted to sarcophagus and the rest of the team nearly killed by mining to death.

In Chain Reaction, Jack tells the new General to get his head out of his ass. It's not disobeying orders per se, but it's certainly punishable, although he isn't.

Wasn't there some disobeying by Jack and Daniel (or the whole team) in Beast of Burden? (Freeing the Unas slaves?)

I don't think I can count the number of times Daniel refuses to do something. I don't know that Jack always ordered him to do it, but I think most of the time it went:
Jack: We're leaving. Now.
Daniel: Fine! You go, but I'm staying.
Jack: Daniel!
Daniel: NO! *goes into long rant*

And while it usually all worked out in the end, there didn't seem to be any consequences for arguing with the officer in charge. (Regardless of Daniel's civilian status, I'm pretty sure he had to agree to follow Jack's orders just to even be on a team.) Maybe that's too ambiguous for your list.

I like that half the 'consequences' are: Jack glared.

Gah, I just saw "Exodus" and "48 Hours" and dude... Jaffa Revenge messes up EVERYTHING. I don't feel much sympathy for Teal'c. Poor rest of the team, working their butts off so he can try and kill the guy who killed the chick that got away.

Also, I think overall the boys of SG-1 (Jack, Daniel and Teal'c) outright disobey orders outright a whole lot more than Sam. Sam's sneakier about it -- her resistance is subtle, and she gets her way eventually. She probably realizes that of the four of them, if anyone was gonna get punished for something, she'd be the easiest target -- Daniel and Teal'c aren't military, and Jack is... well, Jack. Sam's bound a lot more by her position so she's gotta act in a smart way.

Funny thing is, I can think of at least twice that Sam has followed orders--against her will--and it has come back to bite her (and the PLANET) in the ass.

I wanna see Sam as a General.

If she ever tried to take over the world, they'd all be screwed.
