Rituals

Yesterday was Cookie Day! The day where I and several other people gather in the basement of a church and spend a day baking dozens of cookies. I had intended to to do three different recipes, but had zero motivation to prep one recipe for first bake this year, and proceeded to fail miserably at the Chai Kiss recipe. The Root Beer Float cookies came out beautifully tho. Almost to an enraging degree.

For real, those Root Beer Float cookies are ridiculously good.

Anyway, standing and doing cookie baking for a full day is surprisingly tiring. I’m suspicious that I tweaked my SI joint, so I might need to make an appointment with Dr. Webster. Uuugh, I hate back pain.

I am using pain patches, doing the stretches and medicating today. I also have a ton of cookies, leftovers from yesterday’s catered lunch, and a chest freezer full of coffee. I should be fine,

Lol.

So, my workplace - which is quite large - invested in a permanent therapy dog. This dog's entire purpose in life is to be cuddled and petted. Because my workplace is public-facing, this dog regularly gets invited for "He's here for pets!!!" segments of time.

I walked into the main area to get water and heard cooing and instantly went "...puppy's here."

I am smug about this as I've been advocating for a VISIT from a therapy dog during finals for over fifteen years. I both love and hate being right about stuff. This time? LOVE IT. \o/

Relaxing time.

I had a good weekend. Of a type I haven’t had in a while.

I basically took the weekend completely off with a few small trips for errands.

Today was my last day off until the end of the month, but I got some important things out of the way. Paid rent. Went to a surgery consult (outpatient annoyance) and got some things for work. Dropped a bunch of grocery donations off, grabbed some lunch, and am planning a long bath soon. Shark week spin kicked me into this morning (uuuugh, pain) so it is more of a “plz need to feel better” than a chill time, but it’s fine.

Also, I have one book left in my reading challenge for the year AND to finish my “read at least one book a month” challenge. Hope I can do it!

Leslie Fish

It looks like Leslie Fish has passed away.

I've gotta admit, I'm very torn on this one. In recent years, she's made it clear that she's transphobic, bigoted, and a generally horrible person all around. A fair bit of her music has meant a lot to me over the years, though, before it became widely known just what she's like.

So... yeah. I'm mourning for just how important she used to be to both me and fandom at large, but at the same time it's hard to be all that sad about the death of someone who's made it clear that she didn't consider me to be a person.
