I want to ramble.
But I don't have the time before work. *frustrated*
Short version: BSG isn't a character-driven show, it's an Issue and bad Soap Opera Plot Device-driven show with characters that are not internally consistent. (and we spend far too much time fan-wanking said inconsistencies away)
If I want issues? I will watch and episode of Star Trek: the Next Generation. At least the characters will be logically-evolved.
And, on a completely different (though related) BSG subject -
How DID Sam's people figure out that some cylons looked like humans? We're never going to know, I'm sure. It was probably a Fantastic Idea in the writing room at BSG and they never bothered to come up with a why. Something that they do a LOT on this show.
It's really kind of sad, because at one point, it was almost halfway decent.

characters that are not internally consistent I cannot be persuaded that Adama and Cottle were out of character to blow Helo off in their respective offices two Sundays ago. My mother has tried.
Tigh was perfectly, gloriously himself, though. "You know what I hate? Being wrong." Win.

I think things started to go down the pan when they started writing episodes twice or even three times as long as needed - and they just hacked out huge chunks. Season 3 could have been so good if just edited differently and had some of the deleted scenes kept in but apparently Ron's more focused on doing stupid things like listening to Jamie Bamber. He admitted at some con that the whole fourway love thing was his idea. *rolls eyes*
And Mrs Ron probably isn't helping. It sounds like she's a bit of a shipper who likes all the cute and smooshy stuff - and, strangely enough, when that starts coming to light? the show became Sunset Beach in space and took a mega nosedive.
Rant over. :P

To the second, there's lots of ways. Seeing more than one of a single model at a time. Or different people seeing the same model in different places at the same time. Mostly I'd say that all it would take is to see the human-form ones walking with and ordering around the centurions. or all it would take is one person seeing the Cylons land -- and both skinjobs and chromejobs coming off the ships. Remember, Helo was actively avoiding Cylons, but the Resistance wasn't. They were purposefully going after the Cylons, and even if they only targeted Centurions at first, they were going to trip to the Sixes, Fives, and Eights at least, with so many of them wandering around. *shrug* I thought it was kind of obvious so the lack of explanation never bothered me.
As we've mentioned, clearly Sam figured out a Leoben (similar to how Adama did, I guess -- Leoben's just too odd to pass apparently). Sam's confrontation with Kara and Helo suggested the Bucs thought *anyone* new was a Cylon. They didn't figure out everything, IOW, which made it much easier for me to buy.

Reset buttons suck, even when used in favor of my otp.

And Tigh, at least, SHOWED his grieving process, dealt with it and moved on--sure, we didn't see much, but it was there. And he IS an asshat. Love him though I do.

I... would probably not be polite if Bamber ever admitted that in my hearing, because that whole subplot was so fucking stupid.
The fluffy stuff... it depends. I'm ok with stuff like the bits in LDYB and the rack scene in Taking a Break. But, in general? I'm fine with them not speaking--or doing the John and Aeryn thing where they run around, shooting Cylons. *sulks* Why don't they go around blowing shit up together anymore?
I'm probably the only person on the planet who finds UST more obnoxious and boring than RST, sadly.
And I honestly have no opinion on Mrs. Ron having avoided the msg boards like the plague, except to post random images and thank people for said images.

And that hadn't occured to me, because, with Helo, the Cylons were also trying to keep him from seeing the skinjobs, I think. And with the resistance, they wouldn't have known--or maybe even cared, at first--that they were there.
I bet Doral got his ass blown up but GOOD a lot. Maybe he was even a PR guy around the C-Bucs, at some point. hehehehe.
Leoben talks a wacky game, and Sam is a good judge of character--like Dad, I'm betting he picked up on it pretty quick. Maybe Leoben needed the radiation meds less? Eh. Who knows.
One also wonders how many skinjobs in uniform they've seen--Sharon, for one (which means Helo did some damned fast talking, during The Farm). Six? If Gina's anything to go by, at least one or two of the Sixes were probably fitted to fleet infiltration...

I think that was meant to be "I cannot be persuaded that Adama and Cottle were not out of character".

I also wonder just how long Cavil was with the Bucs. Either it was quite awhile, or he spun a really good story to join them.

I've gone and got lost in my own double negative. What I mean to say is I thought Adama and Cottle were out of character. Did I say that the first time or the second time? Adama at least - he stands by his men better than that, even against Tigh.
