SFF: The I've Got My Mike's AND YOU CAN'T TAKE IT FROM ME edition
BSG: So, there's this ship, and it flies through space, see? And it's looking for a place to call home. It's a very SAD little ship, and it just wants a brief cuddle, probably. Maybe it should be introduced to the Madame du Pompadour.
Pet Shop Boys 'Fundamental': Is good. (PSB are one of two bands I'll actually shell out cash for. Depeche Mode are the other.)
I am...
Ellen.
I have to start with Ellen, don't I.
Kate Vernon was at Dragon*Con this year, and is a woman entirely as unlike Ellen as you can imagine. She's bright, cheerful, bouncy, and friendly as hell. And cute, actually.Yes, she falls into my Blonde obsession.
*stares at WinAmp*
I AM KIND OF IN LOVE WITH NEIL TENNANT RIGHT NOW.
Right. Ellen. And Kate. Because the Ellen and Saul scene pretty much is one of the best dramatic scenes I've seen in a HELL of a long time. Kate and Michael Hogan just totally pull you in, and you're left with this horrible realization, as she's leaning into him. Oh, SAUL. You just killed your wife. And you didn't do it with a gun.
Because that's what would happen, isn't it.
She was a traitor. They shoot traitors, don't they?
Oh, Ellen. I've known you die since the first rumors started leaking. And that's why I made you 100 icons for icons100. And that's also why I've watched the fandom going, "Gosh, I like Ellen and Tigh now." AND CACKLED MADLY. And also mocked, because, bitches, where the fuck were you two years ago when I was happily watching her grope Lee and hating her in Colonial Day?
Seriously, this is the best PSB album since, um, Very, I think.
Moving on from Ellen.
The orchestrated attack by the insurgents is lovely. Obviously, Anders went a little overboard with the charges, but it works.
Anyone who thought Maya would get out alive was delusional.
Ladon is Anders' second in command. OBVIOUSLY it's an easy step from leading the genii to leading the resistance.
I spent a lot of this episode squeeing. My roommate was probably disturbed.
You know what was the coolest fucking thing, though? Galactica, dropping through the atmosphere to pop out vipers, and falling like a fucking rock and then jumping again. And you damned well better believe that damaged her. Probably wasn't great on the atmosphere, either.
Oh. Right. Actual content.
Lee and Dee. The scene on Pegasus, with her talking to him about everything, and him saying, "I'm so proud to serve with you." AND THEN KISSING. HELLO KISSING (I like kissing). THAT. THAT was why I love them. Not to mention that, to those of you who think being fat makes you weak? FUCK YOU.
And then Lee not following Dad's orders, but PLANNING. He left his birds, he left (oh, Lee, if you didn't off-load the stores on Pegasus, I will smack you. Of course, the replicators still work, so it probably doesn't matter) everything but a skeleton staff. Because he KNEW he'd be going one way, and either dead or coming back with Dad.
Speaking of Dad, how fucking AWESOME was his plan? He used what he had, and he used it damned well. BUT DAD. TELLING the troops they're all gonna die? NOT SO GREAT FOR MORALE.
Lee and Dee hugging at the end also made me happy. And I kinda need to go write them porn.
Right. Plot. Story. Thingie...
SPARKY.
SPARKY tried to shoot Gaius! OMG. He's an idealist now, Oh, GOD. Sparky, I still love you, even though you let him go so the Baby Plot could still annoy me.
...I should write Neil and Chris fanmail for this album.
Okay. Pyramid courts aren't just good for planning bombing raids! They also DOUBLE AS ARMORIES. *loves madly*
OH SAM.
So, the big G dropping through the atmosphere was just fucking awesome. And I know I said that, but it was one of the things that made me full of glee and adrenaline.
La, Chief. Etc.
Anders finding Kara? That, people, is the reaction of a man who was hoping. And can't quite believe his hope wasn't in vain. OH SAM. And he's smart, and leaves immediately.
"Put me down, you idiot!" Er, or words to that effect. HI KARA.
And then the kiss. OH GOD. The kiss, which proves she's so fucking happy to see him. Did you see her grin? Did you see her KISS HIM BACK? Why did it have to be in a dark hall? I can't icon that! DAMNIT.
Dear Neil and Chris, I think I want to, um, give you chocolates. I don't do the baby thing. Love, Lyssie.
Kacey. You knew I'd get there.
Yeah. Not a surprise that Leoben just wants a Big Happy Family. Pity he's just such a creepy fuck--not to mention, still doesn't get that Kara? Doesn't like him. At all. Kara twisting the knife SHE STOLE FROM HER HUSBAND. (now that's an OTP for you, baby. He brings the weapons, she uses them. Wait, isn't that Domino and Cable?) ANYWAY.
Dead Leoben. Yay.
Of course she got the crouton.
And, of course, Sam was DELAYED so he missed the entire scene. Seriously, man, he was RIGHT BEHIND HER. He should have showed up ten seconds after Kara, and shot Leoben in the back.
Seriously, people, Galactica has this problem with time moving differently for different people. It's very sad.
MEANWHILE. Lee shows up with Peggy, and Dad curses, 'cause he's wrong about it Being the End (Dad has a death wish?). Many basestars (three, although there were four menacing Galactica... guess, um, one went off to get McDonald's?) pick on the battlestars, and things go BOOM. (pretty).
Then the Peggy goes boom, too, and we're kinda sad. But, finally, CAIN IS DEAD.
And then, predictably, Baltar, Three and Six find the baby. *yawn*
Then it's the Big Reunion Scene. and, inexplicably, Sam WANDERS OFF. Now, far be it for me to disagree with the writers and directors, but if you're a man, who's just gotten his wife back after four months, and you are ecstatically happy to see her, are you going to WANDER OFF right after she gets the kid she was holding taken away from her?
Yeah, that'd be a big fucking NO.
Apparently, they wanted the OMG DRAMATIC SHOTS OMG instead of what should have been Sam with an arm absently slung around his wife.
*sarcasm* 'Cause, God knows, we wouldn't want to show that he's actually GOOD for her.
And, of course, the end scene has Dad and Lee smiling happily, and Dee smiling (and hugging Lee!), and Chief being shocked to see Kara.
And then Dad has to shave his 'stache, 'cause Mom went, "Get that the frak away from me."
SPEAKING OF MOM.
Zarek. Well, ok, Zarek first, 'cause he had a small bit. Where he grabbed a random guy and made him Watch Over Mom. Smart!Zarek. Should be interesting to see how he changes. Or doesn't change.
Ok. Mom. Mom is now In Charge, and has her ship back! Yay!
And I think that was it! The ships all need fixing, and the fleet is back up, and Sam and Kara are off to have sex. They have four months to make up for, y'know.
And it took the ENTIRE 'Fundamental' album to type this, and I'm actually listening to Tea Party now.
ALSO. If someone doesn't do a BSG vid to 'The Soddom and Gamorrah Show', I will be SAD.

I loved the last shot when you could hear Dad thinking, "Back to normal at last."

Seriously, people, Galactica has this problem with time moving differently for different people. It's very sad. Yeah, noticed that. Odd, isn't it?
Kara twisting the knife SHE STOLE FROM HER HUSBAND. (now that's an OTP for you, baby. He brings the weapons, she uses them. Wait, isn't that Domino and Cable?) ANYWAY. It always comes back to Cable in the end. *laughs*
Oh, and the whole brilliant falling Galactica thing... should have heard Nathan and I during that scene. Happy, gleeful, geeky land? Us? Oh, hell yeah. Wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Galactica and time do not equal OTP, sadly. (oh, writers, please get your pacing down better--even just someone grabbing Sam and stopping him. OR, if he SAW THE WHOLE SCENE? SHOW US THAT)... er, sorry, went all capslocky there.
Galactica falling. I bounced on the couch. I shouted.

Zarek didn't just grab a random guy.
He grabbed Jammer.

One thing I was missing, though, is a post-exodus scene with Baltar. I'm assuming he's still with the Cylons, possibly as a prisoner. But if there's anyone whose hitting bottom I wanted to see, it's his, and he's about frakking due.

Eh. That doesn't bother me (nor surprise). And, er, given some of the spoilers images I've seen, this is NOT the bottom...
no subject
What's interesting to me is that Zarek grabbed Jammer, of all people, who's still got to deal with his own personal fallout from being a collaborator with the Cylons and the New Caprica Police. And from the look of next week's preview, that fallout may be hitting a hell of a lot of people in the very near future.

That bugged me too! I am chosing to interpret it as Anders getting that she's majorly fucked up and needs some space
because she's only going to shut him out anyway waaah I am scared for themand opting to give it to her. Because really, if she were remotely ok they would have been doing it on the floor of the raptor or whatever ship it was that brought them home, so I can believe that he is clever enough to get that and not be too pushy right away.no subject
I know there are more out there (recent posts to galactica_icons should have her). Er, but for once, I shall pimp m'self. Here are 100 Ellen icons. (http://lyssie.livejournal.com/875173.html)

I'm... not sure what to make of the next few weeks. We shall seeee.

Luckily, I console myself with "someone dragged him off so they could get the Drama Shot in, and then he bounced back in and was like, 'Hey.'
Which is apparently code for "I love you" in my book.and then he got an arm around her, and she kinda stiffened, but he didn't say anything, and then Dad wandered over, or something. And meanwhile, Tigh found a pair of bolt cutters and sliced his wrists..."...er, sorry. I may be slightly rambly.

The scene with Ellen and Saul? As much as I still don't really like the character of Ellen, it totally and utterly sucked me in and omg *wail* he killed his wife!!!!
Galactica dropping in?
Best.scene.ever.omg.
Sucks that they didn't have anders with Kara at the end, god dammit.
