BSG semi-rant

Er, right before bed, too.

I once wrote a letter comparing Pete Shanahan to Sam Anders. This letter still holds true for the majority of Kara/Lee shippers. Although in not quite the same way. Because, even more than before, the old argument of Pete Anders will heal Sam Kara to make her love for Jack Lee that much stronger is popping out everywhere.

Yeah. 'Cause, of COURSE he's just a stepping stone for her on the Path to Lee Adama's Love.

Seriously. Do you people LISTEN to yourselves?

Oh. Note to self: Leave Teh List tomorrow before the brain damage starts.

eta: It's also the "Oh, the show is going to end up Kara/Lee" crowd that are also annoying the shit out of me. This is not a fucking romance novel, there is no set path. Will the show end with them together? God, I fucking hope not as it would be a confirmation that RDM really is an idiot (wait, I knew this. Well, shit).

Though, really, if you want your romance-novel conventions, go watch the bloody soaps and leave BSG alone.

I wouldn't be surprised if the show ended up K/L. After all, Lee=main 'young' male lead and Kara=main 'young' female lead, and they are friends according to the show, so that scenario is unsurprising (and actually very common in shows).

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. Anders definitely seems to be in for the long haul, and the interviews, when dealing with shipping, certainly changed from "Kara/Lee OMG" to other partners like Anders and Dee. If you asked me after first season, I would have been a lot surer that at least temporary K/L was in the offing (I can't see this show do HEA for anyone). After the second season, I honestly have no idea. On one hand they seem to be moving away from it by introducing long term and viable love interests to each of them, OTOH they had that almost sex scene in Scar (but then you can interpret it either as finally slamming the door or hinting at more and no idea which it is).

I do think JB and KS have a great deal of chemistry, so I will enjoy it if the show would explore it. But if they don't, I am completely fine with it, as long as the characters have plenty of interaction (whether as friends or quasi family or whatever).

I must admit that I'd prefer Lee, if he has to be in a long term relationship, to have that relationship with someone other than Dee, as Lee/Dee is underdeveloped so far and bores me. But Kara/Anders are adorable. And I hope they stick around.

Dee/Lee IS vastly under-developed. So are many, MANY of the relationships on Galactica--including Kara and Anders. Kara/Anders only feel more developed because they've had more screentime (and they grin really really goofily at each other a lot).

JB and KS could have chemisty with a cardboard box (hell, so could most of the cast).

Thing is, I'd be ok with it not being for the long haul--as long as they don't kill Anders off. Because that's the cheap way of doing it. I'd rather have them eventually realize they don't talk, they're just very spur of the moment, and they really don't know each other--Sam prefers sunlight and trees and Kara prefers Galactica.

I'd also note that having Lee come between them is also the cheap way out.

Maybe Sam really wants kids. We're fairly certain Kara doesn't. (kids can SO be a deal-breaker)

I'm hoping BSG will skip the cliche of The Leads Get Together. Especially if they want to continue saying, "Look! We Are New and Different! Nobody Does This!" with all that pretention behind them.
