I would like a Kara, pls.
It's not perfect. It's actually like reading crack!fic from a fanboy. In some ways, this is good. In others, it's bad.
For instance, on the side of eye-rolliness (OMG MOM EYE-ROLLS, BTW), are Adama writing letters to his dead son, Starbuck giving herself a pep talk, and the obligatory Exposition to Explain to People Who Don't Watch the Show (which, much like the 'OMG the Cylons were built, blah...' stuff from the beginning of. every. episode. is annoying).
In the, Hrm, I can deal with it category comes in Greg Pak's view of the interpersonal relationships. Two things: 1. Pak doesn't think Dad getting shot changed him in any way, and 2. He missed the scene on Kobol where Mom and Dad made up (HOWEVER. It should be noted that Dad said "I forgive you" to Mom, as if the whole thing was HER fault)--and to a lesser extent, his seeming forgiveness of Kara and Lee for their roles in events.
Now, I seem to recall being a little bit disturbed at how easily things fell back into place for our happy go lucky characters. So I'm all for this tension to be there, as it makes sense to me.
Falling into the "OMG CRACK!FIC" category is the plot of the thing, Medical ship shows up, and all of the people on board are, well... let's just say they shouldn't be there. It's fabulous and stupid and damned amusing.
Character bits: Kara is hot and shoots at things. Lee is Lee-like and very doubtful of his father's intentions. Mom is THE BOMB, omg. Dualla and Gaeta and Billy have LINES, and are themselves.
Dad gives us a little more colonial backstory (and the graveyard in space they come across is fucking gorgeous--I mean, dude, there's at least ONE dead body still floating there), as well as being intelligent (yay). And Tigh is very Tigh-like.
I am now going to have to wait two months for the next one. ARG. Want. Now.
In short, it's 25 cents. You can always sell it on eBay.
