Connections!

So, so, we watched The Buccaneers with Carla Gugino and Mira Sorvino (mm. Mira as a brunette. Still hot). And there is not one, but TWO Doctor Who connections (possibly more, but I'm talking OldSkool).

Professor Judson and Helen A. Sadly, they were not married, or my amusement would've been higher.

Also, Foyle was in it, and he was an ass *shakes fist at Foyle* Andrew would be disappointed in you! And Sam would look as sad as Laura did.

Then, of course, I needed to watch Jewel in the Crown (which I don't have), and watched Heat of the Sun instead. It has Danny, from Reckless in it. It also has... James Callis. BABY James Callis. He looks all of 18, here. It's fucking hilarious. He's decent, though.

And of course, Miss Layton. Sigh. Oh, Guy.

I've been rewatching JitC this week. Doling it our so as to make it last but yesterday I gulped down An Evening at the Maharanee's and Traveling Companions because I just couldn't help myself!

I adore the whole latter part of Evening where Merrick keeps exerting control and answering for Miss Layton and Guy just kind of side sidesteps, politely. There is one point where Guy is talking to Col. Layton about his father and Merrick breaks in to offer Guy a cigarrette, obviously meaning to stop the conversation about school and home so Merrick can jump back in. Guy just shakes his head no and keeps on chatting with the Colonel. Merrick looks amazingly pissed for just a split second.

And then in TC that long ramble from Guy to Nigel Rowan when they first board the train!

Up next: The Moghul Room (!!!) Which alwasys makes me think of Prise and Prejudice in that Nigel certainly cools to Sarah the minute Merrick Merrick becomes engaged to Susan. If not for the prospect of Merrick as a BIL you just know he'd still be pursuing her and Guy would bow out.

Sigh.

I haven't watched it in so long, all I can do is cackle with glee. I recall the train bit, or at least one of the train bits when they're talking about Merrick and Hari and Daphne Manners, I think. ArG.

Luckily, my library has it. *now has first four tapes, yay*

Er. I should go do the dishes before tv. Otherwise the kitchen will implode. ARG.

Mostly it's about Merrick "choosing" people and about Guy's Aunt Charlotte and the Bunburry plot. But the whole thing is one long monologue from Guy while he undresses, brushed his teeth, presses his pants beneath the mattress, sighs regretfully about not being able to make a pass at Ms. Layton and then says goodnight. It has to be the first time the two men have seen each other in what, five or six years, and it's all so natural.

I'd just hit the tapes unless an imploding kitchen would distract you at a bad moment.

Bash off and have fun with Hari and Daphne. I really do like them - the're so messed up and yet so sweet.
