i want to write an essay
I don't like Kara/Lee. In fact, it practically gives me hives, at this point, makes me avoid reading fic, and makes me daily bitch at poor
woodface. Yes, I've written it. Yes, it's subtext and that makes it easy to write. (of course, since the slashers claim Daniel/Jack has more subtext than Sam/Jack, why am I not writing Daniel/Jack?)
What's strange is being on the other side of the shipper divide. Being one of the ones on the side going, "Well, that's nice. But why don't people write gen/DC/other pairings/non-X-Men-Marvel?"
hrm. am being distracted. Note to self: continue later. also. find out how much isn't on ff'net and update.

This is such an annoying argument, as it is comparing apples and oranges. Sam and Jack is main text. It is directly referenced in the show. ARGH!

Honestly, as they move farther away from Sam/Jack onscreen, the less I care for how they handled the ending. It seems more like chickening out right now, especially since they have RDA for a few minutes in a few eps this season. They caved to pressure from all sides.
Plus, RDA's time this season seemed really slashy, and Sam's essentially a recurring character. Walter seems as important as she is. My OTP is gooooone.
But back to BSG - I suspect this cynicism influences my ability to engage with other canon pairings onscreen, including Lee/Kara.

In a weird way, if they'd left the Sam/Jack with more of a make-the-shipper-fans-irate! ending, there would probably be more good fic being written (not to say there isn't now, just not as much and not by the same people) and I'd... care more to read it. *shrugs*

Kara/Lee makes me shudder too.
I'm kinda glad I don't read most fanfic.

I sympathize, though, because in SGA I'm getting to the point that John/Rodney fic makes me want to break stuff. Not because it's slash, but because I don't see that pairing at all yet the fandom is inundated with it.
