SF Friday thoughts

SG-1

Sam's back. And looking incredibly bored. Wow. We got barely any interaction between her and Vala, the one thing I would have liked.

Daniel is very touchy-feelie with Vala. Huh.

I'm really unimpressed with their inability to keep more than one woman on the show at a time.

At least we didn't have to listen to their crappy speeches much.

And, I also want to know where FRITZ AND ARCHIE were! You can't bring in Nero Wolfe without his cook-cum-butler and his sidekick! Damnit! I needed me some gratuitous Archie snark!

I seriously find myself bored with this show, like, even more so than before. It's very sad.

Atlantis

Lots of interwoven storylines here. REALLY liked that, because I never felt bored (mostly. Actually, the technobabble made me wander off a lot).

Teyla and Ronon were great, love their dynamic, really enjoyed the friendship. And, of course, she tucked him into bed when he was drunk. AWWWWW.

Liz and John and Caldwell et al? Fab.

This was the episode with the women telling the men they were stupid. LOVE IT.

We need more episodes like this. Er, minus the boring technobabble.

Galactica (for snarky review fun, please see Timey's Recap.

So, you're on a dangerous planet. A toaster has told you, "The others will be watching to kill you". And what's the first thing you do? Let the unarmed civillian investigate the plastic gravestone.

OF COURSE.

Sigh.

There wasn't enough Kara.

The conversation between her and Lee was cute, and Timey is disappointed Kara didn't punch him for stealing her ball (so'm I). Also, WTF, Lee, WHY did you sniff the ball???

The stand-off makes sense, and I'm trying to understand why Helo thought it would be any different.

Not surprised with Roslin's ruthlessness. We've seen it before, with Leoben, with the vice president debacle.

WTF was Baltar saying?

Wow. So, Adama is now Picard, right down to the models. Hrm. Sisko and Picard did fight a lot, way back when.

Go, Dee!

And, er, not really surprised about any of it. But it was still fun to watch.

He sniffed because it was from home. And he thought maybe he could somehow smell real dirt or trees or... home on it.

... Or Kara!sweat. Or Kara's new lover!sweat.

I decided it was because he was trying to smell another man on it.

Let the unarmed civillian investigate the plastic gravestone.

OF COURSE.

How many of us couldn't see that coming a mile away as soon as she gave her d00m quote about a price of blood?

I think he might have sniffed the ball in some hope of smelling "home" on it.

ADAMA WAS SO CREEPY! *flails*

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but he's sniffing a pyramid ball! The creepy RUNS IN THE FAMILY!

And Gaeta should be the new CAG.

[identity profile] musicforcylons.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it was that creepy.

OMG Brain-sibling! I wondered about the same thing, but you know, if he couldn't avoiding scorching off his eyebrow, he probably didn't have fabulous reflexes in the cockpit. ;)

[identity profile] svilleficrecs.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. He's going to have to mark his territory w/ that girl one of these days.

And I, for one, can not wait to see how that happens.

[identity profile] svilleficrecs.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
While I like that idea... I don't see why he would have reason to suspect that. She didn't mention who she got it from. That sniff is going to spawn a thousand bunnies.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I think I have different levels of creepy.

Yeah, but he really wasn't expecting the flashpowder to go up like that. and he's since learned his lesson. Really.

[identity profile] musicforcylons.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, this is very likely. I don't understand why it's creepy to you, but I am curious.

Huh-uh, then why isn't he flying?
ext_26799: (*sigh*)

[identity profile] nique.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Er. Was making a joke. I highly doubt there was any reason at all.'

Not that the fans will believe that.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly because it seems like a stalkery thing, "Ooh, she touched this, I must now smell it, WHEE!"

Vipers scare him. He kind of likes raptors, but he gets claustrophobic. If he could be CAG from CIC, he'd be happy.

[identity profile] musicforcylons.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, from that angle, it would be creepy-eepy.

Poor boy. He probably would do excellently well as CIC!CAG... would that make Dualla the Kat/Kara to his Hotdog/Lee? He totally knows what the right thing to do is, but it might take him a while to be as good as needed off the book.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

Hah. Gaeta/Dee? naah... Hrm. *sleepy* I shall sleep on it. Maybe brain will cough up fic before I'm completely deadeded.

[identity profile] svilleficrecs.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I hoped so. I just saw it in, like 3 other places? I'm like, are you serious?

He wants to see if it smells like home... hee. Sniffing is another bulletproof kink of mine.

On BSG my kinks are well armored.

[identity profile] lavidaessueno.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
You know the face Scully makes in the Bambi episode (with the cockroaches) when Mulder asks if he can make a confession?

That's the face I was making when Lee wouldn't give back Kara's ball. Because I really, REALLY didn't want her to cry. I was hoping for a punch, but it worked out well enough in the end.

[identity profile] lavidaessueno.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
ADAMA WAS SO CREEPY

Oh yes he was. I was hopinghopinghoping he was talking to Six. I think I need more sleep.

[identity profile] musicforcylons.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh lords, I didn't mean Gaeta/Dee just, Gaeta and Dee. I don't think I could see a case of G/D, especially with my brain clouded by Billy/Dualla.

[identity profile] musicforcylons.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
As I as I said somewhere else, I as half-expecting it to be a hallucinatory Sharon.

Dear Daddy Adama,

Stop talking to dead Cylons. We can see them too, but we're not talking to them.

Love ya,
The Creeped Out Fans.

Here's your Galactica reviews for the rest of the season: There wasn't enough Kara. ;)

Haven't you ever sniffed a baseball? It's leather, dude! It smells good. So does a football...it's something organic and real and home, not plastic and metal and synthetic...it's childhood and sweat and Caprica.

I liked the ep. Heck, I'm still in love with SG1, too. La,la,la,la!!! *g*

"There wasn't enough Kara.

Oh, look, inconsistency, and illogic. And you people say this is better than Star Trek."

[identity profile] thekatebeyond.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
We got barely any interaction between her and Vala, the one thing I would have liked.

Yes! They totally underused both Vala and Sam, and the ending sucked.

I liked Atlantis' technobable, but then, I could listen to David & David read a phone book.

Re: the ball thing - not much into sports yourself? Well, you know what they say about smell being the strongest sense for memory? It's like if you catch a whiff of cinnamon and remember your granny making you cinnamon toast and tea when you were sick - what's the next thing you do? Inhale deeply. It's instinctive.
ext_18106: (Default)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, for the record, SG-1's techbabble bored me, too. At this point, I've had so much babble from Doctor Who, etc, that I get really bored with it. That was the best thing about Farscape. No babble.

Er, no. Don't like sports much.
ext_18106: (Default)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ew. I'll take your word for it.

[identity profile] thekatebeyond.livejournal.com 2005-08-20 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I grant you that. SG1's technobabble almost always bores me. Well, unless Sam is really giddy about it.

I'm a sports nut, and I found the sniffing thing a really nice touch. I was really impressed that they thought of it, because it seemed really true-to-life to me.

I'm really unimpressed with their inability to keep more than one woman on the show at a time.

Didn't you hear? They can't have two wimins on the show because they'll sync and get their periods at the same time and it will RUIN the show, OMG!
woodface: (kara sad)

[personal profile] woodface 2005-08-21 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, that's exactly what I was thinking.
