NCIS (because the only thing I saw of House was him and some guy having a drinking contest)
Actually, I didn't really watch NCIS, either.
But I did see the end.
Apparently, I'm the only one who liked it.
I had predicted Tony would die, on the basis that Kate was the only other woman on the show, and therefore, getting rid of her would gut the female side.
That said, if you were watching this episode with the sound off, you couldn't have missed how much they were building her up as the Heart of the Team (oh, writer, they cliche and hubris are staggering). From her nightmare about Gibbs to her diving in front to save him... Yeah.
Building her up, then cutting her off at the knees was beautifully done.
The best thing would have been if they'd then had Gibbs shoot Ari Sue between the eyes, but I can't have everything.
At some point, I'm going to have to ramble on about why killing off characters is a good thing.
How unrealistic would it have been for them to not kill someone, hrm? People die every day, not everyone's going to live, blah, etc. Personally, I'm impressed that they went ahead and actually killed someone dead instead of wimping out and doing a maybe they're not really dead thing.
Last, or, sort of last, am I the only one who caught the silence over the credits that splashed up before they went to commercials? Or do they do that normally, and it was just nice and dramatic this time? Hrm. I'm reminded of Adric dying in Earthshock. Although Kate was slightly more annoying.

I liked the episode up until the VERY END.
DAMN THAT ARI!
I miss Kate.
*cries*
Of course, there's more to it than that, but that's "Evil Kris" stuff, so we won't go there.
;)

And yeah, it was good and surprising the way they killed her, 'cos it looked like it was going to be the wimp-out with the vest.
But it still sucks that she died! Argh.

But the... Turns of phrase, I guess. The way they talk, the arrogance, are close to the same.
Plus, they're both kinda asses.
Which does not negate the love.

Oh, I know. It's because their asses that you can't help liking 'em. What Kate said (um, which you maybe missed if you didn't have closed-captioning on...), about Tony as the X-rated Peter Pan, seemed particularly...apt.

"Tony Dinozzo doesn't take that kind of attitude from a mere probie, Probie."
"...Tony, are you high?"

Oooh, that would rock.

I was fearing for Abby and Ducky.
Gibbs would have never been killed.
Kate getting her brain pan splattered took me by surprise.

And then Gibbs would slap him upside the head. Ohhhh yes.
