NCIS (because the only thing I saw of House was him and some guy having a drinking contest)

Actually, I didn't really watch NCIS, either.

But I did see the end.

Apparently, I'm the only one who liked it.

I had predicted Tony would die, on the basis that Kate was the only other woman on the show, and therefore, getting rid of her would gut the female side.

That said, if you were watching this episode with the sound off, you couldn't have missed how much they were building her up as the Heart of the Team (oh, writer, they cliche and hubris are staggering). From her nightmare about Gibbs to her diving in front to save him... Yeah.

Building her up, then cutting her off at the knees was beautifully done.

The best thing would have been if they'd then had Gibbs shoot Ari Sue between the eyes, but I can't have everything.

At some point, I'm going to have to ramble on about why killing off characters is a good thing.

How unrealistic would it have been for them to not kill someone, hrm? People die every day, not everyone's going to live, blah, etc. Personally, I'm impressed that they went ahead and actually killed someone dead instead of wimping out and doing a maybe they're not really dead thing.

Last, or, sort of last, am I the only one who caught the silence over the credits that splashed up before they went to commercials? Or do they do that normally, and it was just nice and dramatic this time? Hrm. I'm reminded of Adric dying in Earthshock. Although Kate was slightly more annoying.

There were no credits on the brodcast here, no indication the episode was over except for timing and the news after the commercials.

heh. I think they were almost over time, because I missed the first ten seconds of House whilst taping the credits.

*sads anyway*

Well, I called the Probie, so I was wrong as well.
I liked the episode up until the VERY END.
DAMN THAT ARI!

I miss Kate.
*cries*
Of course, there's more to it than that, but that's "Evil Kris" stuff, so we won't go there.
;)

*snuggles* I'm sad, too. But I don't hate them for having courage/gumption/whatever to kill off a main character (you can bet a ton of network people are all over the producers' asses about allowing it to happen)

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2005-05-25 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking the same thing, about not-killing-off-Kate-due-to-female-factor, but for all I know, they're gonna bring in another female agent next season...

And yeah, it was good and surprising the way they killed her, 'cos it looked like it was going to be the wimp-out with the vest.

But it still sucks that she died! Argh.

I liked that I wasn't spoiled, but I'm not emotionally ready to handle this. I'm a bit of a mess over this actually, which is totally not like me. *flails with teh stupid*

OMG, yah, cuz I have no idea what's happening and when 'rents are descending and if I have to work on Monday... ARGH. (I might get most if not all of Monday off...?)

I'm reminded you wanted to know the Bobby and Tony connection. Er. Similar personalities, both tend to leer a lot. Tony's much more of a womanizer, and Bobby's certainly more of a paranoiac.

But the... Turns of phrase, I guess. The way they talk, the arrogance, are close to the same.

Plus, they're both kinda asses.

Which does not negate the love.

Arg. We'll be in Dallas late Saturday, through Monday evening. Monday's the day we're doing the Faire. Sunday... Not sure. Possible Six Flags, I think. Brain is too tired to think straight right now.

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2005-05-25 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the arrogance...Tony talking about himself in third person would probably not be all that foreign.

Oh, I know. It's because their asses that you can't help liking 'em. What Kate said (um, which you maybe missed if you didn't have closed-captioning on...), about Tony as the X-rated Peter Pan, seemed particularly...apt.

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2005-05-25 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
They *are* asses. Jeez. Grammar dies a slow death online. *sigh*

*dies* I didn't have CC on. OMG. Now I will make us watch it when we get up tomorrow.

"Tony Dinozzo doesn't take that kind of attitude from a mere probie, Probie."

"...Tony, are you high?"

ps. did not mean to mock you earlier whilst still in the grip of the existential crisis. But the flist exploded with "I hate Bellisario" posts, and thus did.

Oooh, that would rock.

I was expecting McGee to die (but that was too obvious) and then figured it's be Tony.
I was fearing for Abby and Ducky.
Gibbs would have never been killed.
Kate getting her brain pan splattered took me by surprise.

[identity profile] daisycm83.livejournal.com 2005-05-25 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I liked it too. It was beautifully done and tragic and the last shot, with Tony looking around all lost and Gibbs all 'grrrr' was perfect and so sad. And I was sort of expecting it when they leaked out someone was going to die-after all, DPB has a habit of recasting his female leads. So it was between Kate and McGee, but in the episode itself, there was no leadup for McGee. It would have been completely out of the blue OMGWTFness. Whereas Kate--well, by the time that bullet got her brain, I was prepared for it.

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2005-05-25 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*snickersnort*

And then Gibbs would slap him upside the head. Ohhhh yes.
