Why I hate Oma Desala, and Don't Get People Liking Her.
This contains spoilers up through Threads.
Oma Desala. She's been using Daniel since day one. This episode does not change that opinion. Has she finally taken action on her own? Yup. When backed into a corner she couldn't escape. Daniel will always think she is pure and good and wonderful.
Instead of the manipulative fucking bitch she is.
Point one. Maternal Instinct. Oma fraks with Daniel so that he believes he has supernatural powers. Of course, all is revealed, and she gains his trust.
Point two. Meridian. She convinces Daniel to ascend. This works well for her, since it means she now has someone who trusts her implicitly, and who has the correct moral makeup to take on Anubis, if need be.
Point three. Season six is like watching her playing chess. Daniel first uses his powers in Abyss, to save his best friend. Then he uses them again to keep Teal'c alive/company.
Both go unnoticed by the others, and Oma is now assured that she can pimp him out for the next big problem.
Cue Anubis getting the various Eyes.
Point four. Daniel bounces merrily off to the SGC during FullCircle, promises to save the people of Abydos, and basically uses his powers more andmore, and strikes a bargain with Anubis.
At this point, she has to step in to clean up his mistakes (he's a very inefficient pawn), and ascends the entire Abydonian populace to keep Daniel's promise (I didn't say she wasn't honorable in her own way. Just frakked in the head and using him).
Point five. Threads. omfg! She spent the whole episode talking about how down-trodden she was, because she made one little mistake! (one little mistake, yes. BITCH! You ascended Anubis!)
Oma! This is the universe's smallest violin, and it's playing for you!
She spends the whole episode making Daniel bored, making me roll my eyes, and confirming my opinion. (what a pity it wasn't in a lighthouse. My Merlin comparison would have run rampant)
And people like Oma? The fuck are you people on?
I'm GLAD she's stuck in eternal struggle with Anubis.

Huh? You mean there are people who do like her? Really?
*scratches head in confusion*
Oooh, lookey...alcohol.
Seriously, am I the only one who thought that instead of helping Daniel achieve enlightenment or whatfuckingever, she was really just stalking him? Too bad her and Jack never had a face to face meeting. It would have been funny to have seen him mock her and make her cry.

I expect people like her because they had a different reading of her than you. I don't like her, but I don't understand why you think she ascended Daniel just so he could take on Anubis. If that was all she cared about, she could have let him kill Anubis in Full Circle and not cared what the Others did to him afterward. I really don't think she was being that manipulative, and although I was pretty pissed off at her after Full Circle, I think she's a lot less deserving of eternal struggles and smacking than the other ascended beings.

I liked her in this episode because she was talking straight so I could relate to her as a character - but you're right. She's a manipulative little whorebitch who has Daniel TOTALLY under her thumb. I would *LOVE* to write/read Daniel/Oma p0rn, omg.
