am aliiiiive. Yay.
I promised snark, didn't I...
However, since a lot of what I did during the week was watch way too much TV, I'm going to ramble about that, instead. (I also updated all of my icon pages, which was over 400 icons for the last 6 months.... Now to upload them)
Watched the first 12 episodes of Babylon 5. First 8 weren't too bad, and there was the occasional snarky moment. Then came the next disc, and the second episode had klingon mormons dressed as native americans... Dear God in heaven promise me I will NEVER have to suffer through shit like that again. Morals! And religion! And we should respect them even if they're going to let their child die omg! *cries* It was like watching an episode of E.R. (or Voyager -- in fact, didn't they DO this plot? More than once??), minus any humor or intelligence. Never have I suffered more. Although I fast forwarded most of it. Sadly, the other episodes really didn't make up for it, although the Labor Rights episode nailed home more morals.
*shudders*
I hate being preached to. And you can tell the makeup people were pissed about the alien designs. I've seen fans dressed as klingons with better makeup jobs. And they were using those stupid klingon headpiece kits they used to sell.
Also made our way through the first season of Invisible Man. I liked most of it. Bobby and Darien are hilarious together, and the snark is *fabulous*. Sadly, the Mary Sue quotient was high. And they had a super-secret anti-America! agency. I was groaning. The Pretender did it better, people.
*distracted* Miss Parker...
I-Man, though. I *LOVE* Darien and Bobby. They are like the snarkiest thing since John Crichton.
And if there's any ship on I-Man (is there?), I say it's of the OT3 variety. Darien/Claire/Bobby. 4evah!
Watched Ghost Light (for the 50th time), and was amused again at it. The cream of Scotland Yard. *cackles* Actually, something I've always tried to understand. I know there's an extended version of Ghost Light. But I've never... had trouble following it. Or maybe my brain just fills in the gaps. Hrm. D'no. But I am so shipping Control and Fenn-Cooper...
Also watched Silver Nemesis. Which does not improve with age. And the Sunmakers, which has them treating K-9 like... a real dog. It's vaguely disturbing.
Oh! And I got the Troughton-era missing episodes dvd, the one that has bits and pieces of things like The Moonbase, and the Wheel and such... And I was watching The Moonbase, and I seem to recall that the scene where the Doctor tells Polly to make coffee (or tea, or whatever) has been used before to point to her being reduced to the role of the 'Woman', since only women make tea/cocoa... And, oddly, I found it more as the Doctor utilizing the tools he had at the time, and Polly being able to make tea/coffee/hot soup was one of them. Which is odd, since I tend to get all, "Women don't just cook, damnit!" But it made sense to me that he needed her to distract them, and since he couldn't have her beat them up (Polly was a little *too* ladylike for that), she could make them tea. And get them sick.
SG-1: Beast of Burden. Please, Mr. deLuise, don't preach. And leave the Unas at home. Because they make me bored and irritable. And not even getting to watch Sam blow up the town's water supply makes me happy (although she SO got that cordite from Jack for Christmas).
The Tomb. Seen it a lot. As always, love that Sam and Jack blow shit up.... (although, dude, near the beginning, Sam and Jack show up at Daniel's lab together with determined "We were not just making out" body language)
Oh! And I was looking at the last issue of the SG-1: Fall of Rome comic today (omfg is it stupid and ugly as shit), and Sam and Jack are in three panels together. Sam gets to beat up some jaffa, and Daniel and Jack are only in one together. *sigh* I want good art for an SG-1 comic. One that, y'know, makes Sam actually, oh, say, look like a person? And how about getting some good action into the action panels. I think Sam beat up some jaffa, but I couldn't really tell...
In other SG-1 watching news, I made my way through bits of season two and three and the end of season four. And double your pleasure Jack... Sigh. I like some of those episodes. Also re-watched some season 8 eps. Will talk about them elsewhere, so as not to spoil.
We also have watched a ton of X-Files. And I have met the Mimi Rogers character. She fits the classic Mary Sue profile. Which writer had a girlfriend who wanted to be on the show? 1. Old connection to regular cast member: check. 2. Sleeps with a regular cast member: check. 3. Has Conflict, and causes at least one character to act unlike themselves: check. 4. Dies tragically: check.
Was enough for me. I cheered when she died. I was only sad that Scully wasn't the one to shoot her.
Also saw the Millenium one, and, wow, that was definitely a "So, Chris, how hard do you want me to suck your cock" episode. Although the end had a cute New Years' kiss. *smirk* They were SO sleeping together.
But I have noticed this bias towards religion. There's lots and lots of it. Like, for every three episodes, two of them are Religious Inspired. *shudders* That was the second stock plot I got sick of fast (Great Big Conspiracy being the first one). Yet another reason I got bored and stopped watching the X-Files.
There was Krycek, though. He was snuggly in a dark leather jacket.
At A.j.'s, we watched Farscape... And some SG-1, and a Forever Knight episode. I think I've seen the FS episodes too often. I was bored.... Forever Knight was... ok. Quite cheesy, but ok. I'm afraid between Kym, Timey, and I, we might've been a bit, er, loud and obnoxious (during any and all of the above). But, uh. We're snarky and cute. We also watched the beginning of the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, and Starbuck is girl!Jack. It's quite damned amusing. And the ship can't decide if it's Babylon 5, or a 70's space show....
*craves snark* Hrm....
