1. Do you remember back in high school, how what type of music you lisened to defined what group you hung out with? Come on, you remember! Punks, Metalheads, Hip-Hop people, Pop music sheep...So what where you?

I didn't go to high school. But I was, at that age, very into whatever was popular--Jon Bon Jovi (before the blonde hair), hair bands, Journey, etc... Sigh. It's a very bad period for me to remember. And Debbie Gibson. And Madonna...

2. How many CDs/tapes/LP's do you currently own? And you don't have to go and count them, you can just ballpark it.

Uh... 200? And the ratio is almost 50/50 by now.

3. Of those CD's/Tapes/Records, how many are multiples of the same artist?

Most of them are, unless the artist didn't put out more than one album. Madonna, Tori Amos, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, KMFDM.... sigh. It's a long list.

4. Name one of those "Oh-my-god-I-bought-this-on-impulse- really-so-that's-why-it's-hidden-under-all-those-old-Teen-Titans-Issues" CDs you *CURRENTLY* have.

Uh... I'm actually good about the CDs. But the Ace of Base Greatest Hits comes to mind....

5. Name a cd that you bought just because the artist was popular but then sold as soon as you came back to your senses.

Never sold a CD.

6. What is one cd that you really really like but you are embarassed about?

I'm having to think on this one... My musical tastes don't tend to embaress me...

7. So what's in your turn table right now?

You mean cd player. And it's Portishead's Live in Roseland album. The tape deck has a mix tape in it. On Winamp, it's 'Believe' from the Run Lola Run soundtrack. Good stuff.

8. Do you still have all your old vinyl? (For those of you who automatically thought of pants, you're exempt from this question)

Yup. Most of it isn't mine, though... Even if I have added some XTC to the collection. Most is my parents'.

(8 addendum) Do you still have a working record player?

Sadly, no. I think it's the motor. But even though I could fix the tape player, the turn table has eluded me. sigh.

9. How many concerts have you been to?

uh... ok. The ones I remember, then. Since I've no clue, really... Elastica, ChemLab/Sister Machine Gun, two bad bands/My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Pointfest's 3-8, Lollapalooza--4-6?, The Cure, The Toadies, Moody Blues, Peter Paul and Mary (twice, and I've met them and Mary told me I should be a singer. hee)... There are more, I'm sure, but.... It's been a LONG time.

10. What was the best one?

The Cure. Hands down. Wild Mood Swings tour. Mmm.

11. What was the worst one?

Pointfest 8. The only reason I went was Echo and the Bunnymen were there. Poor Iain and the boys, the crowd had no clue what to make of them. Stupid teenybopper brats.

12. Who is your favorite musical group/artist(s)?

This could be a long list. I tend to love/adore everything. *deepbreath* Garbage, NIN, Tori Amos, Echo and the Bunnymen, Peter Paul and Mary, KMFDM, My Life WTTKK, Moby, REM, Radio Iodine, Supreme Beings of Leisure, Portishead, Sarah McLachlan, Kate Bush, Belly, The Breeders, Live, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, The Cure, Oingo Boingo, Lush, Ultravox (even though it's been a LONG time since I've heard them), Hooverphonic, Depeche Mode, Enigma, Dido, Bif Naked, K's Choice, Delirium, Republica, Poe, Mono, Sinead O'Connor, Utah Saints, Erasure, Eurythmics, Annie Lennox, Wild Strawberries, Tricky, Sister Machine Gun, Bricqmen, ChemLab, StereoLab, The B52's, Bjork, Duran Duran, Midnight Oil, Letters to Cleo, Madonna, Bush, Veruca Salt, Throwing Muses, BT, Luscious Jackson, Sonic Youth, Future Sound of London... I could go on and on. I won't.

13. Who is someone you *loathe*? (And no answering Britney Spears or the Backstreet Boys, that's too easy)

Most rap artists. Specifically? Hrm. Missy Elliot. L'il Kim.

14. What is your guilty pleasure?

My old Debbie Gibson and Tiffany tapes. Pink and Eve. Sigh.

15. What's your favorite song remake?

Uh. So many to choose from... Orgy's 'Blue Monday,' I guess... Although Erasure's 'Heart of Glass' version is up there. Or the Pet Shop Boys' version of 'Where the Streets Have No Name'...

16. Who was a band that you really really liked but they somehow just dropped off the face of the planet?

A couple, here. Radio Iodine have broken up, sadly. MC 900 Foot Jesus--what the hell is he doing now?

17. What's your favorite one-hit wonder?

Good question.... T'Pau's "Heart and Soul" I guess.

18. What is one band/artist that you like but nobody else has heard of, and they really SHOULD know this band/artist?

Supreme Beings of Leisure, Radio Iodine, MC 900 Foot Jesus... And, Sleeper.

19. Favorite music movie? (Musicals count, BTW)

I have to pick a movie? Um. Do animated count? If so... Anastasia and the Emporer's New Groove. If not... I choose 'Chess'. The British version, not the lame dumbed-down American one.

20. Who's a better actor, Jon Bon Jovi, Iggy Pop, or Mariah Carey?

Eddie Izzard.

21. Do you still lisen to the radio, or are you such a facist that you only have tapes?

I listen. Occasionally. I'm irritating, though. I flip rapidly through the stations looking for something. It's how the conclusion was reached that ALL stations are basically the same musical pap. With occasional flashes of brilliance. Like Linkin Park's 'In the End'...

22. Speaking of Facisim, what are you? Liberal, Conservative or Facist Dictator when it comes to new music? Liberal being you'll give anything a try, Conservative being that you only like certain types of new music or Facist being that you despise everything that the record companies try to lob at us.

Depends. Sometimes Liberal, sometimes Conservative. If it's rap, rabidly Fascist.

23. Do you have a favorite type of music or do you like a little bit of everything?

All types, for the most part. Except rap/hiphop. And I'm not too fond of grundge or country.

24. Eminem, musical genius or flash in the pan?

Over-rated dumbass. But he knows how to work the industry.

25. How long do you think Teen Pop will last until it die a long-deserved slow suffering death?

Since it goes in cycles, forever.

Think about it. In the 60's, it was the Beatles. In the 70's, the Jackson Five (I'm guessing...). 80's? New Kids on the Block... We know who it was in the 90's, 'cause they're still around. Sadly.

26. What "New Band" that has recently come out, (say, in the past year) that you dig and think they should stick around for a while?

Supreme Beings of Leisure.

27. Who do you wish would come back?

I'd say the Pet Shop Boys, but they're only hampered in producing because the American company who distributed for them dropped them. Idiots. Anyway. The soundtrack to the musical should drift over here eventually.

I'd like to see Lush back together. Maybe get some new raunch out of My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, or KMFDM... And where the hell are ChemLab and Sister Machine Gun?

28. Do we need another Nirvana?

There will always be bands like Nirvana... Since they're basically Tears for Fears in the 90's.

So, instead, I can't wait to see what the updated Tears for Fears will be. Nirvana was grunge... The next could be country-rock.

29. Okay, last question, (Damn, this was long) time to play psychic. What do you think Popular music's "Next Big Trend" will be?

There's a definite trend to a more techno/pop sound right now. I suspect it will begin leaking into the guitar-driven rock and then a year later will be forgotten for heavy metal.

Hell. Grunge may come back, thanks to bands like (ugh) Creed and Matchbox 20.

-=-=

And this is the end of the beginning of the epic...
