ok, so this was totally supposed to be privacy-locked because I was spamming myself the file from work (and I was apparently too fast with hitting post). But, uh, some'fyou'vecommented... Anyway, as can be seen, it's lyrics, mixed with fic pieces (because that's the way my brain works...)

I drive off the edge of the Earth

Desert, stark and orange and grey and brown, as far as the eye could see. The light seared at the eye, drinking the moisture before the tears could even fall. For Devon Adair, it was like coming home. She'd never been Earth-side, but some part of her liked to think that this untouched wilderness was exactly what her home would have been like.

She turned slightly and watched as the Eden group slowly meandered past her.

heheh.

"Yale?"

Moving carefully, the cyborg tilted his head and looked at the round metal circle. The flat grey reflected none of the hotly shimmering sunlight, and Devon wondered if the properties allowed it to absorb that energy. Pity human flesh didn't do the same.

"There is... something. Yes." Yale gestured, "These markings resemble Egyptian Hieroglyphs."

"How is that possible, Yale?"

"I don't know." He shifted and stared

I cracked a piece of broken glass Found like a bomb

There wasn't anything to bring back. The words echo around her brain, which feels so empty. Like a desert with no sand, no water, no cacti.

Daniel, she knows, will be upset for a long time.

Teal'c, well, it's hard to say. He's more closed-in now that he ever was before.

And then there's her. Sam Carter. The woman they all walk around like there's a bomb about to go off.

They don't get it. They never have.

Not even Pete gets it, but he hasn't spoken to her since the night she called him Jack. (and that was two days, five seconds, four micro-seconds after he died in front of her eyes, blown into nothingness with such a look of surprise on his face)

It's ironic. She got the life he was always telling her to have. She saved the fucking planet. She did her duty. It's over and done with, and the good guys have won, and the bad guys... don't exist anymore.

And now he's not around for her to prove how little she needs him.

Gah. Don't need this song right now... Damn you, Matchbox 20.

HAHAHAHAH! I should rip off Grace, fanfic that it was, and do it to Jack.

"But, Jack, I'm not some vestal virgin who's going to wait for you."

You Won't Be Mine (Listen to it here)

Take your head around the world
See what you get
From your mind
Write your soul down word for word
See who's your friend
Who is kind
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - Oh no
No you won't be mine

Take your straight line for a curve
Make it stretch, the same old line
Try to find if it was worth what you spent
Why you're guilty for the way
You're feeling now
It's almost like being free
And I know soon you will be

Chorus

Take yourself out to the curb
Sit and wait
A fool for life
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Chorus

I drive off the edge of the Earth

Wow.

I'll have to think about this one some more, and that's good, because it's the ones whose imagery sticks with me and pops into my brain three days and then two weeks later that I adore. This one is one of those.

's a lyric. Don't remember who it was anymore. I was using it for angsty Earth2 which changed into a bad kitschy Earth2/SG-1 crossover.

Well, I live under a rock, so it was new to me. ;) Call it bad and kitschy, but it worked for me.

Martinis? Where? ::looks around and listens for the sound of them being shaken:: Hmm, this red wine I'm enjoying is suddenly feeling inferior.

found it. It's a paraphrased line from Something for Kate's "Asleep at the Wheel" (lovely, wonderful, FABULOUS band)

Some highway at night
And I'm not driving the car
I drift among the headlights
My mind somewhere else now
I drive off the end of the earth
And every light on your street
Comes back to me
In a few more days
I won't let them get away

And I was trying to make Sam and/or Jack behave.

er.... I'll have to think about it. It's gotten sidetracked.
