Sucked harder than a whore on Broadway desperate for a heroin fix.

So, I had to go to church today.

It was my niece's baptism.

Church, for some reason, has become a vast arena for what appears to be marketing reseach seminars. At least, I assume that's why they had a powerpoint presentation instead of a sermon. Although the really crappy singers baffled me, as did the New Age piano music.

They also did MadLibs. I shall have them up, eventually.

But I was wishing I'd either burst into flames when I stepped in, brought a gun to shoot myself with, or, left during the service.

Sadly, I'm too responsible, and suffered.

But. Wow. Talk about a niche market needing help. Their sound guy sucked almost as much as the service itself did. The music was overloud, you couldn't hear the voices, and the pastors kept crackling.

In other news, I went to the St. Louis Nano Kickoff, met about six other people and chatted for... 2 and a half hours, I think. Wasn't bad.

We're going to try to get together halfway (I suggested the Sunday I'll be in between Texas and Milwaukee, but... Eh)

Also ran some Flotilla people to ground.

Tired. Had to get up too fucking early.

Hrm. Fuck. I think I'll make a post in a moment, with me just saying that over and over. I need some sort of catharsis. This day has sucked ass, in some ways.

Yours and someone else's recent post made me think...

Yours was definitely a polyester church nightmare. I doubt I would've enjoyed it.

I'm not the most observant guy in the world. A lot of the attraction of church for me is the music, which is arguably the best in the city. Not jingoist at all, and not complete sap. Plus, I often operate the sound system while I'm there, so no worries about sound quality.

Are people who are less churchy than me, FWOABW, less comfortable in church? Or should it be a place where you can just *be*, and take in the moment? A lot of us are just Christmas & Easter, wedding and funeral people (I surmise). Even if we give God or Goddess all the credit.

(Here's some earplugs.)

A Power. Point. Presentation. In a church? And Mad Libs? *gapes* Our services consist of offering, congregation hymns, hymn by teh choir, fellowship, comments by the preacher, possibly a solo or two, a sermon, invitation, prayer and housekeeping stuff at the end.
