Starlight, starbright....
I tried to make a wish tonight. Seth (the dog) tugged at the leash and distracted me.
Pity. I really wanted John Crichton.
It has come to my attention that I live in a subdivision. It's vaguely disturbing, but... I'll live. And the thing about it is... This is a place where very few people drive. So few, in fact, that I walked through a spiderweb tonight. Walking down the road.
Seriously, there were a few strands stretched between the trees, low enough a car would have taken them down. And yet I walked through them.
Kind of freaky.
The dog and I walked out to the stop sign. And then, he decided he wanted to go further. So we walked up the hill of Doom, around a few corners, and stopped at the other stop sign.
That's when I looked up and realised it was damned cloudy. But, this far from city lights, there was still a star.
But the dog wanted to go further, and so we trooped further down. Until we came to the house where they're doing some construction, and two unchained/fenced dogs came bouncing out to meet us. I made a command decision and decided it was time to go back.
The two dogs almost followed us. They were puppies, I think. Very bouncy, and friendly, but I don't need another dog. Besides. They weren't mine.
I'm having a delayed adrenaline reaction, now. See, I could have panicked, but I didn't. Damned proud of myself for that.
The dog and I made our way back a bit slower, especially him. He was damned tired. And the heat and humidity are awful out there. Even at night.
It's irritating, btw, because there were people with lights on outside their houses. Kept fucking over my night vision.
Yes, I take a flashlight (this big heavy duty one dad gave me), but I rarely use it--there's no point when there aren't any cars.
Besides, I could kill someone with it...
Once we were home, both Seth and I collapsed. He's in the foyer. I'm not sure he's moved since I made him drink some water. I've been up to get water and ice, and that's it. Well, and the whole stripping thing.
But that's beside the point.
I figure we walked somewhere between 1 and 2 miles. I'll have to check when I drive out tomorrow.
Damn. My elbow's going all screwy.
