I saw Doctor Who in a movie theater!

Which is pretty damned awesome in and of itself.

IT WAS AMAZING AND ALL THE THINGS I WANTED FROM THE TIME WAR EVER. (also also, I love that it has gotten to this point, that they have used all the Big Bad Weapons and are reduced to cyberizing their own soldiers (that Last Day minisode) and running from lasers. Because if both sides have time tech, both sides have already screwed each other and the universe over and you devolve over time AND I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE WITH THAT, MOFF. Stealing from Genesis of the Daleks is always a good plan. I wonder if they called it the Thousand Year War?)

Also, Billie Piper is amazingly hot, and I quite loved her in this.

(I like Rose, it's just that Rose isn't the brainy, timey-wimey consciousness of a super-weapon)

ALL THIRTEEEEEEEN.eeeee.

I'm not sure what I feel about the Zygon-human alliance bit at the end, though. That was a bit left hanging and I'm not sure it works. (Osgood is amazing, though)

CURATOR FOUR. Best canon ever.

I don't have more to say. Just. eeeee. (and Colin's narration over the behind the scenes thing. OH COLIN. <3)

Curator Four was the best kept secret of all. :) I had no idea that he was going to be in it at all.

If you've seen the Five Doctor Reboot(ish), Peter Davidson had way too much fun with it gathering up the crew and getting everyone to play along - including Peter Jackson & Ian McKellan! (They did a Hobbit set visit, which is just insane...)

I liked how they did a reset on Gallifrey. They gave him a goal to work towards now. It will be interesting to see how this plays out during Capaldi's reign as the Doctor.

You might be the only person on my flist who thinks like me that Billie Piper's role was great. And yep, she was hot. :-)

*agrees with pretty much all of this very much*

I think, all in all, we had a very nice party, after all. :-)

Osgood needs to be another companion. Or, for all I know, she's another Clara-bit walking around? Because of Clara Oswin Osgood. (Though, seriously,I had to keep reminding myself that she wasn't Tatiana Maslany.)

I feel like I've been personally battling the hate on Tumblr, with so much love and squee, that I'm surprised people haven't unfollowed me for *liking* something. ;)

(I'm at the point where I may be starting to troll the haters by posting awesomeness and how much I enjoyed it...)

[identity profile] ellestra.livejournal.com 2013-11-27 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
It was so much fun - Time War and the Moment, UNIT and Zygon Invasion - all of it. And Billie was amazing as the Interface and as Doctor said - hot.

I was all happy and entertained and then I started to squee when first they shown us all Thirteen Doctors and then Tom Baker came on the screen.

In this story it makes perfect sense that the Doctor would be the curator. Queen Elizabeth the First made him the curator of Undergallery. It is a job. Doctor can have a job. With a desk. He take it whenever he feels it's time.

The only thing that bothered is - that's not how you use an inhaler. You need to shake it first. :P

The Zygon thing is the one thing really bugging me. I mean, they introduced that plot point, and I thought it was going to be completely random, only then they decided to carry it through, so maybe not, but then they LEFT IT THERE. Unresolved. I have no idea what to make of that and don't expect it ever to come up again (unless, of course, it does).

but, yes, PUPPIES AND RAINBOWS, right there in my Who. that was nice.

The Hobbit set visit sort of killed me, with that.

I've always thought Gallifrey being gone was a bit rubbish and uninteresting. Now they're back, they're bound to be rubbish and uninteresting, but at least it will be more Oldskool. =D

Her role was amazing (and she did a wonderful job, too). I just. I loved the idea of a weapon with a conscience who tries to change the world. I don't really have a lot of thoughts on it, aside from that. (ok, and the hotness, and her glee at getting Clara to solve the problem)

I have loved this series since I hid behind the couch during the second Mara episode (my brother did, too). Seeing the 50th was just amazing and magical, and I loved how it was a mix of the old and the new.

THAT was an amazingly hilarious line. (I'm also really really fond of the exchange in the cell when Eleven says, "this is what I'm like when I'm alone" BECAUSE OH MY HEART THE ANGST--and it also reminded me a bit of the beginning of Eight's first audio, when he's alone in the Tardis, talking to himself)

*dances around like a small child* I was all hand-clappy and cheering and EEEeE.

ok. And Tom. I just. EXCUSE ME I HAVE SOMETHING IN MY EYE.

Nah., I think she's the descendant of an old UNIT officer. "Corporal Osgood. Chap with the wings, five rounds rapid." or some such.

But I think she'd be fun, especially since traveling with him would make the scales fall and she'd stop being certain he'd save everyone (Evilly, I want her to travel with Seven during his Machiavelli/Time's Champion period. Ace could tell her a thing or two about how sometimes having him save you isn't worth the machinations and heart-ache)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2013-12-04 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
YES to all of that. It was everything I wanted (and more!)

At least she doesn't start talking asap after sucking on the inhaler? (I think she held her breath, anyway)

YES. I have seen a few reviews/synopses that claim that bit got finished. BUT IT didn't. It was just "oh, now there will be peace. But we're not going to show it" or whatever.

I hope it does come up again.

Oh! Sometimes I think I need to watch my way through all of Old Who, which I totally do, but I have no time for. So frustrating! That does explain how she could've snagged Four's scarf as her very own. (Or even gotten close enough to make a duplicate.)

She'd be amazing as a Companion, and I'd love to see her grow out of the whole Doctor saving her all the time thing. I really love Companions, and I love them even more when they see the Doctor for who he is, rather than as a nearly omniscient, omnipotent savior figure. (My favorite lines out of any Who ever are "He's a Time Lord." "That's just what he calls himself. It doesn't mean he knows what he's doing." Amy Pond had his number perfectly, even if there are behind the scenes interviews that say she's always idolized him. I don't believe that.)
