sff: Sleepy Hollow is now a tv series? o.O

Which I have watched. Because snark. And really, it's the sort of thing I like.

It was pretty entertaining.

Like, I'm sure there were a billion things wrong with it, and I had two (or three) minor quibbles. BUT, it kept me interested and watching. I found myself drawn to Ichabod first and Abbie second (but more because I felt like I understood his anger and confusion? I'm not sure how to phrase that, but I loved that he was so obviously angry. And hiding his confusion with that anger. I really hope he doesn't just become Obsessed Man With a Mission now, and gets to keep occasionally returning to that anger--because his life was basically stolen out from under him. I'd be pissed, too)

Abbie I warmed to quickly, but in a different way? I was wary of the stereotypical "hot chick cop with an attitude and a gun" and I appreciated that they didn't just go with that. She, too, has a Past and background that isn't just about being Tough. I liked the quiet moments with her and Clancy Brown, and her reaction to finding him (and the horseman) felt very real.

I liked that she was also very no-nonsense about everything (and, of course, my favorite thing) BLUFFING him out of psych ward. C'mon, people. I have a weakness for con artists.

The tone and feel of the piece was very gothic, to me. With some nice humor (but not... I don't know how to put it? It wasn't all tits and severed heads, I guess? More sort of the genteel Vincent Price sort of horror, which I appreciate. There ARE severed heads, but the blood isn't excessive--and that was one the things I liked! Cauterized wounds. Also, observant police detectives)

Basically, I got done with it and was like "OMG THAT WAS AMAZING. WHEN IS THERE MORE?" As I did really enjoy it. It's been a while since something I watched made me gleeful. (I mean, I like a lot of stuff, but it's been a dry summer for me)

My minor quibbles:

1. I felt that Abbie opened up to Ichabod too quickly. I felt she should have taken longer (bonding with a stranger didn't seem her style. Then again, I'm not sure what connections she really has to people right now). Also, her, um, story wasn't all that amazing (at least not until the mirror at the end. Theeen... yeah. I liked it more)

2. Too few women. I'm not entirely sure that Abbie had a conversation with anyone but dudes the entire time. I hope a) her sister shows up and b) she has a female bff that sometimes shows up for random coffee and "omgwtf" headdesking. I'm aware that asking for her to be a lesbian is also way too much.

3. AMERICA SAVED THE WORLD FROM HELL, YOU GUYS. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. That wasn't, like, over-wrought or stupid. Not at all. Nope. (omgwhat, really? C'MON, WHO WAS DRUNK AND OVER-TIRED AND STILL THINKS COMMUNISM IS THE DIVIL OR WHATEVER)

ok, also, just for the record I totally want a billion crossovers with Fringe where Abbie is Astrid's girlfriend and they complain about the weird shit they see at work together.
