lyssie: (Chloe King sees what you did there)

glass beyond the pale - random tvs

1. MIT (Murder Investigation Team).

I enjoyed it, liked that while it was a GRITTY CRIME DRAMA, there wasn't a huge huge focus on WOMEN ARE VICTIMS AND THAT MAKES THEM SEXY. Also, two female leads who were almost partners, even though it's very much an ensemble, as well.

One annoying jackass who was mostly ignorable until 1x8, where I wanted someone to shoot him (idek what they were doing with that episode). And most of the cast are male, but don't ask me to remember which is which, outside of Del Tarrant (Steven Pacey).

I'm not surprised it only had two seasons?

2. Nine Lives of Chloe King

Quite fun. The show forgets that it's in high school a lot (much like Pretty Little Liars), and there's some skeevy "boys who stalk you are cute" stuff.

But it did one thing that I have been wanting for a long time: a female protagonist who gets super powers and thinks they are totally awesome. There's a fun little montage in the episode where she runs around jumping off roofs and shit, and I was ALL OVER THAT and pleased as punch. SO AWESOME.

It was nice to see her relationship with her mom, and I'm hoping her dad doesn't become some Huge Thing--fathers and daughters is so over-used.

Also, Chloe is adorable and snarky, and hopeless at holding a conversation with a guy without sounding like an idiot. <3

eta: Also, there was a bit where I was like "and now she's going to go cry in the shower" and she wasn't crying, she just looked annoyed. I was very surprised, but pleased. NO MORE CRYING IN SHOWERS FROM HEROINES, TV.

3. Covert Affairs 2x2
OMG HI ODED, NICE TO HAVE YOU BACK.

Can I say that in TWO EPISODES. TWO. He and Annie have had a billion times the chemistry she and love-struck Ben ever did? Seriously. I also feel like I know Eyal way more than I know Ben, and I think that's less the writing and more Oded being a consummate professional. And hot.

The episode was a bit run of the mill, though I was a bit sad that hot!mark girl wasn't a spy, too. And that there wasn't a threesome. (I am so shallow)

JOAN IN A JURY. How did she not manage to get knocked out of the running on that? Maybe they should give her a cover as a lawyer next time. I love that she left Auggie in charge, and I loved their little bit at the end.

And, well, Annie telling her sister about Paris, if not telling her all. OH, ANNIE. It is never going to be easy.
