sff: Primeval, s5, eps 1-3
So, yeah, apparently Primeval came back while I wasn't looking.
OMG OMG OMG LADY EMILY IS BACK OMG. AND THERE WAS HUGGING AND JESS KNEW SHE'D BE BACK AND--
ok, so, like, there's other stuff. But I love so hard the whole "Emily is in stereotypical danger and then saves Matt's ass" thing. I love that Jess was happy to see her. I love that Abby found out what happened and suckered Matt into going back for her. Ok, so there was some help there.
I'm still way less interested in Connor's Speshul brains and stuff, and his new assistant is at least Deliciously Evil, though she chews the scenery a lot.
NOT ENOUGH SIR PHILIP, SHOW.
(also, there can now be Lady Emily/Madame Vastra/Jenny fic, y/y?)
Though I loved the Victorian London bits, my favorite episode was totally the Trapped in a Sub one. I love that stuff, and it's silly and stupid, but such fun.
I'm vaguely disappointed they didn't kill Connor? I like him, but that would have been an interesting twist.
Also, this team still continues to be so awful at its job, and yet. Still the ones in charge.
I'm not sure what to make of Abby and Connor and how they're trying to Dramuh them up--I DO like that Connor was so defensive of her.
But it's sort of horrible. It's hard to tell if Abby's right or Connor is, and there's no TRUE answer to that question. And possibly won't be, as the water is so muddled. WHAT was Helen Cutter doing with Philip, and WHY does he think using the anomalies like that will be so easy? I just. There is so much room for things to FAIL. Sigh. ok, so maybe I am a little interested.
AND HOW DO WE KNOW that what Matt is doing isn't what causes the cataclysm? I love pre-destination paradoxes as much as the next person (AND WE KNOW THE SHOW HAS GONE THERE, season one and the dead soldier guy, anyone?). But does this mean, to change the future that they'll erase Matt/themselves/something else?
Will we get Claudia back at the end of all this?
Sigh. This show is much more fun when marathonned.
eta: ALSO ALSO. BECKER WOULD LIKE A TANK FOR HIS BIRTHDAY, PLEASE. And I would like more of him, as Matt is still sort of uninteresting, and Becker hasn't gotten to do much (like, in episode one, he just stood around and Matt did all the rescuing. meh)
eta2: Also, can I talk about how much I love that bit in the sub episode where all these old white dudes are like "girl at the computer get us coffee" and Jess gives them a "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON, THAT IS NOT MY FUCKING JOB" look. AND THEN LESTER ASKS THE ADMIRAL TO GET THEM COFFEE. Oh, Lester. Not like the admiral was doing anything either, UNLIKE JESS WHO IS THE FUCKING TEAM COORDINATOR. fuck yeah, Jess
