sff: Covert Affairs 2x01 - Begin the Begin
Tosh would make an excellent spy. Well. Mostly.
Ok, seriously, that is a stupid title.
The episode opens by teasing us with Ben being fridged. I WOULD NOT HAVE MINDED. Sigh.
But then he's all right and then Annie saves his rather useless ass (and is awesome, like, seriously, her first moment of awesome and I was all settled back in--yay for unlocked-down revival equipment).
Thank god we're not subjected to much more "let's be in love at each other", although there's that adorable bit with Jai (HI, JAI, YOU ARE HOT) and the puzzlebooks. AW.ot3, y/y?
Auggie!
And then Joan crashes the chitchat party, and, and, show, I love you Joan sits Annie down and makes sure she's all right. I'm telling you, on some level, Joan is like "this is me twenty years ago" about Annie, and it's freaking her out (LIKE, that conversation they have on Joan's stoop, and I was all "OMG, Joan, is that what Arthur used to do?" about it)
I am ridiculously O.o about how often this show is about women and women have conversations. Like, seriously, at the end, where Arthur and Ben talk? I was SO confused about why it felt off. But it makes sense!
I am disappointed that Arthur didn't set Ben on Liza Hearne and her source, though. I'm saddened at the lack of Liza, really (and her legs)
Joan was amusing when she was at home. In her camisole and robe. I have to wonder if she's been strictly adhering to a 9-5 thing or something? Also! Arthur took her advice! He's a smart man, I knew he would in the end.
And, well, I really sort of loved the subversion of the whole "battered girlfriend" thing, because assassins are more fun. (I was actually kinda eye-rolly about it, especially Annie running into the warehouse and nearly blowing everything--btw, those are some shitty bodyguards, since they didn't see her).
Anyway. YAY MY SHOW OF WOMEN HITTING AND SHOOTING THINGS IS BACK.
