Genderswap re-cast challenge. SG-1
This is the current Femslashland challenge, and I went ahead and swapped races, as well. (Because I could). I tried to limit myself to people not currently working, but failed more than once. (and holy gooood, some of the decisions were hard!) Also, I was only supposed to re-cast four, but I ended up re-casting a lot.

Angela Bassett as General Hammond. omfg, I would watch this show only knowing about her. Ahem. I love her a lot and while she's not quite as old as the original, I think she would manage the part splendidly.

Michelle Yeoh as Jackie O'Neill. Cranky and cynical, Jackie resigned from the AF after the death of her son. Yeoh is perfect for the part, able to pull off the gun-running and snarkiness easily.

Rekha Sharma as Danielle Jackson, archeologist and linguist. Everyone will call her a Mary Sue despite her allergies and tendency to argue heatedly with Jackie about peace being the obvious option. I chose her because she is adorable when geeky.

Alessandro Juliani as Samuel Carter, astro-physicist. He is a perfectly geeky type, and he's also got that ability to be innocent and cynical, all at once. He would be adorable as a bouncy happy scientist going through the gate for the first time.

Tricia Helfer as Teal'c, ~exotic alien body-guard to a God who isn't real. Why cast her? Because I know she can pull off kicking someone's ass, because she's regal and commanding. Because she can pull off stoic and act with just her eyes. Because I want to see her acclimating to Earth omg.

Phylicia Rashad as Bra'tac. Holy fuck, can I talk about how the Bra'tac and Hammond show needs to be on my TV yesterday? Because it would be awesome and fantastic, and I would glee a lot.

Tahmoh Penikett as Jackson's husband, Sharre. To fill out the damsel in distress role... I know I'd steal him for my husband.

Lily Cole as Apophis. Because holy god, can she pull off artifice and costumes, and the goa'uld at prone to, well, extravagant decadence.
In later seasons.....

Indira Varma as Cameron Mitchell. Because her show has been cancelled and also because I want to see her as a fighter pilot, with swagger. (sadly, there are no images of this sort on the web. *SADS*)

Callum Keith Rennie as Val Mal Doran. Because I ship Tory/Leoben. This is the only casting that is not racially-swapped.

Gina Torres as Ba'al, who dresses suavely and runs a multi-million dollar empire on Earth. And clones herself.

Dichen Lachmann as Ska'ra, Sharre's sister who bonded with Dani. I couldn't resist, once I'd cast Sharre (or however we'd have to name him). She'd be perfect as the annoying kid sister who ends up trying to rule the galaxy.
(I know I didn't remember everyone)

I'm not familiar with Lily Cole or Dichen Lachmann, and I bowed out of BSG before I really got to know Alessandro Julliani, but otherwise you hit exactly on actors I love, love, love.

Torres as Baal is THE BEST.

Rekha as Jackson (I see you just love casting her as archeologists :D)
Indira as Mitchell (YES PLEASE NOW! She needs to be in something where she doesn't die or have really limited screen-time...or both)
Angela as Hammond: Wow would I be shipping Hammond/everyone! Never thought that would happen :)
Tricia as Teal'c = perfection!
AJ & Tahmoh & Dichen! Also, I love your reason for casting CKR as Vala. Tory/Leoben 2.0!
But this just topped it:
GINA AS BA'AL!!! Again, I love you and your brain ♥
Awesome job!!!
