I don't think I've mentioned this. If I have, I've totally forgotten.
My mother and her friend wrote Real People fanfiction, back in high school.
I came to this shocking realisation while cleaning out the books last weekend. One of them was a bound copy of Mimi's Thirteen Steps to Tich. And in it was a little footnote about how she and my mother used to write these things called 'thinks'. And they were stories about the Beatles, or the Bee Gees, or people they knew at school...
And, suddenly, it all comes clear. I have fanfiction in my genes.
Filking, too. Dad used to write lyrics--still does, on occassion. And during Kat's wedding, he added in a verse to Fields of Gold that fit beautifully.
I was doomed from the start. ;)

P.S. I just looked up Peter Billingsley on IMDB. Frighteningly, I'm six days older than he is. That means that the boy from A Christmas Story (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0085334) is 31 years old!
