Where the characters wear formal wear in improbable situations? Like, I'm pretty sure my liking for it started during my Indiana Jones craze (Willie and the Tux, people). And Primeval and Blue Murder both have episodes with formal wear. Hrm.

Yes, I do. Like you it may have started with Temple of Doom and possibly old screwball comedies and film noir.

Mostly I think it was from comics, because whenever someone went on a date, had a party, or got married a super-villian showed up and there was a fight or they were kidnapped or they had to save the world, y'know...

Well in RL everytime I'm in a really nice suit I have the urge the run at full speed so I can pretend I'm in a movie...cause people always run in formal wear in movies...so yes. :P
