That's because 'heated' and 'steamy' means something else in the of Martin's corner of fandom then in the Gabaldon's. I suppose that after reading the latter the former is almost boring. What's with using actual arguments and being respectful of other people's opinions.
Still it's reaching people who would never read/ where not aware of existence of Diane Gabaldon before so maybe removing the actual posts and surfing just on the new wave of interest will be beneficial for her. Now I wonder if creating wanks is going to be new viral marketing tool?
But the thing is, the stuff at DG's was mostly polite, too! And some of it was very long-winded and boring!
About the only bits that weren't polite were the back-and-forthing with that Pamela twit, and the occasional "omg now I will never read your books!" comment.
But isn't it always like that - perfectly boring discussion with occasional bouts of insanity? The craziness of the thread is measured by the frequency of the parts with name calling, Hitler comparisons and such.
