Ack. Must go.

This is Mitai's fault. But, not really, since I'm glad to have later scenes of this unfinished fic...

Paige Guthrie yawned hugely, and looked out the window of the airplane. Still the same. Boring fields, patchworked with tiny houses and barns. It couldn't be much longer, could it?

Not that she was normally given to impatience, but this was the first visit home she'd had in a while. And Momma had said her older brother Sam might be there. She hadn't seen *him* for a long time, either. Not since that time he and some of X-Force had visited her school.

It was rather irritating, having a brother who routinely pretended to be a mutant terrorist.

Faith hung up the phone, swearing softly.

"What?" Sam looked like he was actually interested. "Your friend refused ta pick you up?"

"No." She grinned, "Change of plans, farmboy. We're goin' huntin'."

"I can tell this is a bad time to interrupt."

"Paige!"

Faith watched, fighting a twinge of jealousy as the blonde girl pounced upon Sam. They were talking and laughing at once, until Sam stopped and grinned at her, "Faith, Ah'd like you to meet my sister, Paige. Sis, this is Faith."

"Hi."

"Hi."

There was a pause as both measured the other, then Faith grinned again, "She any good with a stake?"

Techno music pounded them, flashes of strobe lights blinded them. Sam fought the unworthy image of blasting the dancers with one of Cable's BFGs. It would at least clear them out of the way. And keep them from occasionally grabbing at him.

Faith seemed unbothered by it all, eyes scanning, body tense.

He leaned into her, lips near her ear, "What are you looking for?"

"Vampires."

If the music hadn't been so loud, he might have asked more. But having to shout over it made a further tactical discussion ridiculous. And potentially dangerous, should someone overhear them.

He glanced down at his clothes, and almost sighed. Lila had been the last one to get him into black leather. He seemed destined to have women attempt to make him into what he wasn't. Or maybe they just thought he was cute.

Giving an experimental wiggle, he felt a hand graze a portion of his anatomy that shouldn't normally be touched by a stranger. Whirling, he gulped as the redhead who'd done the groping smirked at him.

"Pardon me." She yelled, voice husky even as it tried to rise over the music. He didn't think she was sorry, but he had to take a moment to take in her clothing. It started with a silver and black choker, the centre of which held silver chains which radiated outwards and multiplied. The result almost covered her decently. Luckily, beneath it she was wearing a black leather bustier and mini-skirt. Her boot-tops touched the bottom of her skirt, and the heels were long enough to make him wonder if she'd put eyes out with them before.

"Uh..."

A hand grabbed his arm, "C'mon, loverboy! I wanna dance!" Faith tugged at him, amusement in her eyes.

"Right!" He called, sending the redhead an apologetic smile. She shrugged, then winked.
