As for the SyFy, I was annoyed by most of the same things you were, but actually liked it better than Tin Man. There is much of the awesome in the latter, but also much of the pointless, and I have massive pacing/structure issues with it. Much the same as Tenth Kingdom. Alice benefited greatly from being shorter and tighter, even though it did manage to have some ill-advised emphases within that.
