meme: last 20 fics

(technically done sometime last week)

The first lines meme (take the first line of your last 20 stories and see what this says about your writing), nicked from [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, who made it a bit more than one line, at times, and I have done the same...

1. It had been a ridiculously stupid thing to do, walking near windows while there was still a chance the replicator beam would slice through the closing shield.
2. Kara was on her way back from a routine recce when she spotted her husband lazily looping in circles.
3. The celebrations were over. There had been the usual cheering squads, hyper, excited people who were glad the world hadn't ended.
4. "I told him you were a boyfriend."
5. "He said he lost me years ago," Audrey says, mouth buried in the side of Shelly's neck.
6. "This is not how it's supposed to work," Ruth says, but Zoe isn't listening, bent over and fiddling with something inside the engine of her car.
7. "Are you sure we should be doing this? What if Gina--"
8. One of the best things (not that there were many) about being stuck in a teen body (the whole cloning thing being something Kara didn't plan on thinking about) was the flexibility.
9. There were days when being a secret agent had its advantages.
10. Kara was floating in a haze of stims and a half bottle of the rotgut most everyone still called ambrosia.
11. She rode into town looking dusty and tired, though her head was high and her gaze was steady.
12. She was holding his hand again. Kara wasn't entirely sure why, and wasn't entirely sure that she didn't like it.
13. "Every year, it's the same," Marigold the dragon told Leland Adama. She shifted a little on her nest, and then sniffled a little, sending the stench of sulphur into the room.
14. Willie, Cottle's third god-daughter, kept the records of births and relations. Anyone who needed to know if they were related simply asked her.
15. "I didn't think it would be like this," Dee said, standing in the sunlight, staring down the side of the hill, a rapt expression on her face as she watched the flowers and grass wave in the slight breeze.
16. Dee ran a hand over her face, trying not to lose her patience with Starbuck.
17. Biology worked in the favor of those who settled on Earth. Babies were a natural occurrence, and sex was a natural release of tension, and the tension of settling a new planet demanded a release of some sort, otherwise they'd all start killing each other... at least, that's what many of the pilots had long considered to be true.
18. Abby gets an email once every four days.
19. At five, destiny sounds like something really cool. You hear about how Robin Hood was destined to give to the poor and steal from the rich, King Arthur and Guinevere. You play Maid Marian and fire plastic-foam-tipped arrows at Howard Roberts from down the block, laughing when Howie cries because you missed that last time and knocked his forehead instead of the apple on his head.
20. Rushing up the stairs to her apartment, her mind ran too fast, remembering too much and too little about the men who were probably there.
