We don't have any alternative stations. We have AM talk radio (AARGH NO), AM talk/70s-80s pop (NO) or crackly FM 80s-current pop with a high Top 40 content and lots of repeats. If I drive west, I can pick up a classical station, but only to the west and only in the car. I also have to get my TV via satellite and don't get any free-to-air commercial channels, but that's no great loss!
