I have the suspicion this is a little more complicated. It's a laptop keyboard, and the key is fine, it's the little bit that goes between the key and the keyboard that's the issue.

We assumed it was a laptop keyboard, yes. And Misha says that the little bit in question - a bit of plastic frame that fits into hinges on the back of the key and on the surface of the keyboard backing - will be part of the new key you buy.
