All Over the World
by ALC Punk!

"I didn't think it would be like this," Dee said, standing in the sunlight, staring down the side of the hill, a rapt expression on her face as she watched the flowers and grass wave in the slight breeze. If she turned her head, she could look up the slope, towards where the grass turned to scrubby woodland. Above it, the mountain rose even higher, though its white-capped peak wasn't quite touching the clouds.

Facetiously, she wondered if God sometimes tweaked the mountain a little for fun.

"Like what?" asked Lee, coming up to stand beside her. He wasn't quite close enough to put his arm around her, though his hand was near enough for her to grasp.

Anastasia considered for a moment, then reached out, brushing her fingers against his. When he didn't pull away, she slid her hand around, linking them. It had taken them months to reach this accord, and she wondered if it would last. "It's so... open." She answered, drawing in a breath, then releasing it in a gust of laughter. "What am I saying? Of course it's open? There's no one for miles around, nothing but virgin forests and plains that haven't seen human habitation in their memory."

"Or Cylon."

She shot him a glance, but there was nothing in hsi face to tell her it was a jibe. "I don't remember Earth. Not the way Tigh did before he was sent into the sun." She tipped her head back, staring up at the blue of the sky. "Just. Moments. Brief little flashes..."

"Hey." He tugged at her hand, bringing her eyes back to his. A smile was on his lips, "It's ok. You'll remember, or you won't. And we have all of this--" he swept his free arm in an arc, "to explore."

"Just the two of us?" she asked, eyebrow going up.

He laughed, tugging her in against his side, "Well, no. We can get help. Maybe make some plans..."

"Plans, Mr. Adama?"

Silent for a moment, he merely hugged her to his side before he turned his head and brushed his lips against her forehead, "Plans. What do you think of Laura for our first child?"

"I was considering Ellen, actually." Dee tipped her head back again, eyes tracking the nothing that had been a fleet of ships.

Lee muttered something she didn't quite catch. Given his opinion of Ellen Tigh, it was probably just as well. Dee shook her head and bumped him with her hip. "We should stop for lunch."

"We are stopped," he deadpanned.

Laughing, Dee pulled away from him and headed further up the slope towards the beginning of the trees. He was right, of course, but there was something that still made it hard for her to be out in the open too long. Some lingering paranoia, possibly. She could manage her worries, just as Lee managed his.

They would survive, all of them.

It felt strange to be thinking that, as she walked up the slope on a nearly empty planet. They could die out the next day and no one would remember them.

Maybe it wouldn't matter, maybe the whole point was the choices they made and the lives they lived.

"Got you--" Lee's arms wrapped around her from behind.

They both laughed as she twisted, catching her foot behind his and tumbling them to the ground. Dee planned, she decided, as she kissed her husband very thoroughly in the bright sunlight, to live her life to the fullest.

"You two gonna ever stop making out?" Starbuck's voice was amused, her steps nearby as she and someone else came walking out of the woods. Sam Anders had obviously found his wife after waking alone that morning.

Dee giggled and dropped her head to Lee's shoulder.

She would live her life to the fullest, even if Kara Thrace mocked her as often as possible.
