I am trying to think of a witty subjectline!
1. I am either coming down with something or suffering something. Spent most of the morning slightly dizzy (and some afternoon, too). I can tell it's in my ears from poking my neck.
2. Apparently, the writer of some flick called, um, "Observe and Report" thinks that date rape is its own punchline. That's class, yo. (like I'd see that movie, anyway) Blogpost from someone far more articulate
3. Dear Conservative Law Makers. Please. For the LOVE OF SMALL INTESTINES, please take a gander at Urban Dictionary next time you decide to coin a phrase. 'Cause I'm pretty sure telling us to teabag the President is NOT what you're intending. At all. (although, I do like some of the updated definitions of teabagging)
4. Taxes. Done.
5. The Kara/Sam thread on Skiffy got locked today. Horrors. I suspect termites. (I could also make a rude joke involving Amazon, but that would be rude)

2. I hated this movie even before I found out about this, now I'm going to be actively telling people not to see it.
5. Yeah I hope we actually get some kind of explanation just because if not I'm going to wonder about foul play. On the plus side not only has this kicked everybody into posting, our new tagline is annoying the bitter Kara/Lee shippers. Also did you know we're all apparently delusional? cuz toaster can't go to heaven so the only guy Kara can hook up with in heaven is her 1TRULUV Leeland. This is why I read the Kara/Lee thread their rationalizations are so often hysterically funny.

3. *immature giggle* You'd think they'd learn their lesson after that Fox News clip about Barack and Michelle "fisting" each other.
5. Or was it... SABOTAGE?! (dramatic music sting)

*grumble grumble, note: sarcasm*
As far as Observe and Report, the scene as shown is very much a 'Oh man, this isn't a good thing, this is severely wrong'. At least, that's how I viewed it. The punchline isn't even an absolution of the main character. It's not a 'oh, ha, it's all okay'. It's really a 'Okay, that's just extra wrong'. It did, in fact, make me really uncomfortable.
The film is definitely that sort of humor. The main character is patentedly unlikable. To me, the humor is of 'what sort of sick world are we living in, that this type of guy is practically an everyman'. Which is a lot of what I got out of Jody Hill's previous film. Men drowned by delusion and testosterone, thinking that it makes them badasses when it really just makes them absolutely pathetic and dreadful human beings.

All toasters go to heaven! It's like that cartoon (http://anination.free.fr/images/affiches/charlie.jpg) but with toasters.
They're just bitter 'cause Lee's gonna be too much of a prude to join their angel threesomes.

I really don't think the world needs more, "Look, women like being raped! They ask for it when they're drunk and stoned, the stupid sluts!" movies.

It's really cool to hear from someone who saw the movie. I was a little intrigued by the 'darker' trailer, up until the cringey sex/rape part, because it did seem like he was portrayed as a pretty disturbed character. But I've heard from some reviews that it pulls too many punches (like that line to make their "unconscious sex" part "okay", and the climax at the end) so that the mainstream dude-comedy fans will still root for him.

I had way too much time to think about this while I was supposed to be studying at work, and as I thought about it, I noticed there was a freaking terrible trend amongst Jody Hill's treatment of female characters, and no longer felt I had any ground to present an argument in his defense.
I apologize for having done so at all.
