Goodwin straightened slightly and made a hand gesture, "Your deputy? Oh, she's your deputy now? And what am I, chopped liver?"
"You knew when you took that other job you would be replaced."
"And you know you can't do without me. Not that--" Archie looked at Jo, who might possibly have been able to kill him with her pinky, and reconsidered what he'd been about to say. "--actually, I take it back. You're obviously getting along famously without me. So. Deputy Lupo, is there anything to do around here?"
"Well," replied Jo, "I could punch you in the face, but I don't think that's what you had in mind, is it."
