If you follow, you will see what's beyond reality...

Or so Enigma would have you believe.

I was so tired when I got on this morning, I had totally forgotten about the Dessert.

See, we went to dessert at Tippins, as a family, Father's Day type thing.

It was the whole family, too. Sisters and brother his wife and kid.... And we had presents for dad. My dad is the coolest (other people have said so. ;).

So, we're in the middle of, "Give dad his presents and cards." and Gabe's cellphone rings. Vicki answers. Now, my expectation, since it's the POLITE thing to do is that she'll tell the person she's busy and will have to call them back.

Nope. She gabs at them for a couple minutes, then hands the phone to my brother. Ah! I think, he'll say he's busy and have to go!

Again, nope. He spends a few minutes talking to this person.

Now, I don't give a shit if this person was calling long distance or local, but that is fucking rude. You do NOT talk on the phone while you're at a family dinner/dessert/whatever. Unless you're prioritising, and your fucking friends are more important than your family.

I resisted the urge to get up and walk out. At least it would have been less rude.

While they talked, we sort of all sat around, uncomfortable. I'm sure I had steam coming out my ears.

And, y'know? I'm sure if they'd been with HER parents, they wouldn't have been so rude. But, as always, Our Side is the less respected one.

So. Fuck 'em.

In the needs of family 'togetherness' I shall be polite to them at any functions we might attend together. And, yeah, I probably still love my brother. But he has shown over and over again that he gives not a shit about his family.

Sad, really.

On another note, I've got a McD's cup, and the little alien dude is on it, drinking something that looks vaguely obscene.... It's very wrong.

I read this a couple times before I finally thought of an appropriate comment.

And the appropriate comment for the cellphone inlaws is:

TACKY.

Geez. If I'm at a restaurant, the cellphone doesn't come out unless I'm expecting to hear from someone because they're on their way to join me at the restaurant!

Oh that was rude and tacky
Hope it didn't ruin the day for your Dad
