ficlet: newBSG, s4, random fluffy Mom/Dad

Er, this was written as commentfic over at [livejournal.com profile] hecatesknickers's, and is Kara/Anders, too, and kinda mocking towards Lee (love him, though I do). BUT. um. Is fluffy.

"Your son was being a dick."

"Why is he always MY son when he does something wrong?"

Laura leveled a Look at Bill.

It was the kind of look that made him shove his hands in his pockets and refuse to fidget for her pleasure. Still... He sighed. "What's he done?"

"I was having Billy review these billet assignments, since some of the refugees are asking about being shifted around," Laura dropped a sheet of paper on the desk in front of Bill. "Apparently, someone refused Captain Thrace's request for married quarters."

Bill used to swear he would never EVER need glasses. Unfortunately, now, he kinda did. He gave in and put them on before studying the requisition request. Starbuck had certainly filled it out, her handwriting as distinctive as her smirk. At the bottom was a signature, along with 'request denied'. A sigh escaped him again. "She could have gone over his head."

It was a weak defense, and he knew it. Laura didn't even give him more than a raised eyebrow in response.

"What the frak is wrong with the boy?" He grumbled, setting the paper on his stack of Things to Do. Starbuck deserved married quarters. Besides, he'd been hearing complaints from the marines about her kicking them out of their rack room when the pilots' rooms were full up.

"I have no idea." Laura frowned thoughtfully, "I don't suppose you'd loan him to me? Tory could use another hand with her reports to the fleet."

Bill reflected for a moment, then nodded, "I'll give him a week's leave to help you organize things. And meanwhile--"

"Meanwhile, I'm going to ask Captain Thrace about this road to Earth she keeps mentioning." Laura straightened. "I'll speak with your later, Admiral."

"Good night, Madame President."

They both smiled, and then Laura was gone. Bill sighed, and grabbed Starbuck's request, eyeing it again. No wonder that husband of hers had been surly all the times he'd seen him.
