Seriously did they go down that route? I'm pregnant therefore I am incapable of thought. I am catching up on episodes in batches and haven't gotten that far yet, but grr argh!
I tend to not think about the social politics of SGA. It's the Barbara Cartland of Scifi. Pretty and superficial but if you think too hard about it it will make your brain bleed. The writers are not really known for the progressive thought are they?
Personally I think they treat all the characters as stereotypes and like crap. Shepperd's initial reaction to Teyla's pregnancy made me want to slap him as lets face it even pregnant she could whup his scrawny ass. Not only was it insulting to her, but it also demeaned him as a character.
I know need to go read more over on CW and see how stupid the fandom is being. I really do hate SG fandom enmass.
I reckon in about three more episodes, they're going to try shoving Teyla into the SF equivalent of a farrowing crate. And the writers will try to depict this as a GOOD thing.
I can cope with fans being ignorant stains on the trousers of life, but having the writers do it just upsets me.
Acc. to Rachel, Teyla's not going anywhere - she will still be a regular character in s5. (And, it seems that the writers are doing the whole off-screen birth & probably going w/ the leave the baby w/ the father routine.)
She posted on her blog the other day that it's not going to say "Rachel" on her trailer, but "Cadan" this year.
And, yes, I agree with your banner, Lyssie.
BTW, the Schnuck's Panic Aisle will be open today - they are predicting 2-4 inches of snow Thurs-Fri for us down here. Ooo! The horror of it all! *laugh*
Pretty much. I thought they'd avoid it, but there was an entire episode devoted to Teaching Teyla That She's Wrong and John is Right. It's actually why I stopped watching the show.
Whether they treat the men like crap or not doesn't matter. The men have 90% of the fucking screen-time.
It's especially awesome when the writers/producers think anyone objecting is just a sad sack (I bet they and Rusty would get along well, actually). (yes, that was sarcasm. Well. Not the bit in parenthesis)
Ooh. Hrm. I need to play with it a bit more, anyway, I think. The Cadman bit needs a little adjusting, and I need to find a better shot of her and Kate and Keller.
Sigh. If only they'd done massive desktops for them.
I know the folks around here are wimps - I am laughing at the fact that all these people are going to be panicking (even more so, 'cause it's a full moon & people totally lose their minds during a full moon!) at that small bit of snow.
Considering I have a 45 mile commute and I know how stupid people are around here about bad weather, I might just stay home and not go into the salon - I know a lot of folks will probably cancel their appts anyway, and I certainly don't have any clients going yet....

Teyla's my favourite thing about that show (although Ronon has been pretty kickarse so far as well)

Because it's clearly an anti-pregnancy banner. *rolls eyes*
My head hurts from bashing at the wall of fandom.

Also, version two=more visually appealing.

Yes, but it feels so good when one stops.
