things annoying me right now

1. TEMPERATURE DROPS. Like, for serious, people, it's in the 40's right now. Tomorrow night? It's going to get down to -4. Dammit.

2. People watching series two Torchwood, who loathed series one and are justifying their continued viewing by claiming it's better than series one. I'm fairly certain that we are not watching the same show. Seriously. It's the same. Sorry to piss on your wheaties.

3. Kara fans who can't shut the fuck up about how Kara and Dee hate each other (not helped by KS's remarks about how Kara wouldn't ever save Dee).

4. Work.

5. That "steal my sunshine" song. I'm with Christy on FM 1021. I did not need to hear even a part of that song. Ever. Again. Ugh.

6. New update page on LJ. wtf, LJ, wtf. Just stop screwing with it!

People who have suddenly become Torchwood fans as James Marsters is in it annoy me. I loved season 1 Torchwood, I love season two. I really love the newly conifdent, cranky, and oh so sarky Ianto!!!!!!!

3. Kara fans who can't shut the fuck up about how Kara and Dee hate each other (not helped by KS's remarks about how Kara wouldn't ever save Dee).
Oh frak! When did that happen? Just what I need, demonic Lee/Kara fans propagating the Dee hate as they know have actress approval. Wails!

3. ?? I saw the Youtube clip where Katee said that Kara would die for anyone on the ship, well okay maybe not Dee, and it was so utterly obvious she was KIDDING, people. Oy. Where is this being said? (Er, feel free to ignore that question; I'm just mildly boggled.)

I always thought one of the few things they got right about the Quadrangle was that they never had Dee and Kara pulling each other's hair out like you'd expect. Sam and Lee came closer, heh. ;) Dee saved Kara's life and there was a bit that got cut out where Kara said to Lee, "The girl saved my life, I don't want you cheating on her," which I wish they'd left in because I'll take moral development for Kara where I can find it. Like, I'm sure Kara wasn't Dee's most favoritest person during that whole thing, but I never got the idea that she hated her - actually she was the one who talked Kara and Sam into going to that party, by tempting them with the promise of the open bar. And I've never got the impression that Kara hated Dee or was even really jealous of her - even with her thing with Lee, Kara's never struck me as the jealous type. Maybe a brief bit of resentment that Dee was standing in the way of her getting laid in EoJ, but I took that as being mostly misdirected guilt, and Kara pitifully trying to make her feel better when she was high kinda confirmed that, for me.

Whew! Sorry, I've been thinking about this. :D

5. Oy, I've hated that song since they first started playing it, back when I was just a teeny-tiny prolix_allie. If it's the one I'm thinking of.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's the remark I'm thinking of it was an obvious joke. Well, obvious to me anyway! *sigh* I'm working on pro-Dee meta as soon as I finish this monster (well, for me) Kara/Sam fic I'm writing. Heh heh heh heh. Tremble, demonic shippers! ;)

Y'know, Katee also said Kara and Dee should have a threesome with Sam. No-one remembers that though. Hmph! ;)
That was totally my solution to the quad. Mormonism. Dee, take a long look at Anders and TELL ME you wouldn't put up with Kara to get in on that action. Lee could come too. See, easy answers! ;)

Number three also makes me very, very cranky. I think it's time for Allie to go all Meta on them. ;)

(Intersting cut line. I haven't heard about that one. I really can't wait for the DVD's so we can see these cut out scenes.)

[identity profile] ysrith.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the concept of that threesome. Of course they won't remember that though. Selective hearing is a key component of certain parts of shipperdom!

Add Lee in and I would be squeeing.

And besides which, did they get approval from Kandyse as well?

Grrr, cant edit the errors!!!

Should be as they NOW have actress approval"

which of course should be followed, from their POV/dementia

[identity profile] ysrith.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha, I did think it had to have been something like that. It is amazing how they grasp at anything at all to push the Dee-hate

[identity profile] ysrith.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, as she does not count as she is not very bright/trying to up her own character/whatever excuse they can come up with...

2. I liked s1 of Torchwood (except I think the season finale was bad enough to almost put me off watching s2 – I hand wave it based on being classic new who finale-esc, those things always put me off th rest of the season at some point) and while I do think that 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' was the best of the series (it embraced the crack, man. For some reason I seemed like the only one who didn’t care Spike was in it) and they said they were retooling it, which I think showed in both episodes to at least a small degree. Honestly, the second episode could have been written for season one.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, no problem.

I remember reading an interview with Kandyse McClure where she talked about filming the raptor-scene, and how it took too long because Katee kept making her laugh the whole time. It's just...weird when people try to bring the actors into the character wars. I'd bet anything they all spend way less time worrying about who ends up with whom than we do.

[identity profile] greycoupon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha, I know that comment!

Why yes, she that as part of her answer to my question.

She was making a funny. She said Kara would die for anyone on the ship... except maybe Dee. Cue laughter and Katee grinning. A JOKE.

Oh, threesomes! Yes.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
After the episodes aired last season Skiffy would put up "episode recaps" that would give you a two-minute version of the ep, and sometimes they included scenes that weren't even in the episode. There was also a clip of Lee drinking at the memorial wall from TSAR. This bit was cut from the "think about it, Lee" conversation, it looked like.
The delivery sounded pretty sincere.

5. Okay, well, I should warn you that I'm incredibly uncool and always have been. I haven't listened to anything outside of classical and british/celtic folk in ages. :)

#2 is so funny. It's the same bad crap. And liking crap is totally okay, but admit it. I mean, I love SGA, but I know it's bad and never claimed otherwise.

Also, putting the character together with Lee in the same episode as Billy died was tacky.

I agree - there are two things that fandom will hate a female character for. 1.) Breaking the heart of an attractive and beloved male, 2.) Hooking up with an attractive and beloved male. They had to make her do both in the same episode?? I mean, when you really look at it she didn't do anything so very bad; she was slow in breaking things off with Billy, but that's about it. It's certainly not the worst thing that's ever been done on the show! But that they had to make that his death episode and the episode she got together with Lee did her a real disservice - also, the Dee of Sacrifice was not the unflappable badass of Rapture or Bastille Day. And then in the next episode they show her in bed with Lee - now, for her it's been a month and I'm sure there was grieving for Billy in there, but the audience is still in mourning and already pissed at her. Stoopid writers.

And, I hate to say it but I'd have more respect for her if she left Lee's ass over Kara.

I can understand that because she knew going in that Lee still had strong feelings for Kara and she told herself that she could live with that. And when she finally faced the fact that she couldn't live with it, Lee chose her. So I can understand her forgiving the adultery/almost adultery because she didn't go in with the expectation that she would always be first. I also think that Dee is a very Roslin-type pragmatist whose ethics involve bending the rules for the greater good, which is what put her in league with Lee at one point, but also ended up breaking them up -Lee wouldn't have stolen the election, no matter how many lives he thought it would save. I think she wasn't ready for him to uphold the system at the expense of letting someone like Baltar walk. And I actually think Lee listened to her - he switched from "I'm defending Baltar because it's the system," to "The system's destroyed and that's why we have to let him go," after Dee told him the system was broken.

*makes meta notes* :D

I dunno. I didn't loathe series 1, but I thought it was rough; KKBB was rough, IMO, but I loved Sleeper. (As I loved Countrycide and some others last season.) Still, some of the characterizations and the writing seems, overall, stronger this season.

*koffs* Yeah, all of 2 eps into it. Well, we'll see.

I, uh. Kind of hated James Marsters/Captain John in KKBB, though. Despite loving his characterization of Spike.

Christ, yes. They worry more about line counts and job security (ha! like there is any in H'wood) than that.

1. You know if you would have stayed back in MO, you'd be in the 50's right now. ;)

2. Haven't watched S2 yet. Can't comment.

5. the name of the band is "Len" and it's a brother/sister duo, ala "The White Stripes". The backbeat sample is an old 70's disco song.

The thing is, I think a part of it is that these people are waiting for the DW spoiler person to arrive, so they're pretending it's better, or something. I don't know! They confuse me!

It's not actually Lee/Kara fans. It's Kara/Anders fans, which pisses me off far more.

There were also scenes of Kara teaching Dee to fly the raptor that Ron talked about regretting having to cut in the Rapture podcast. It wasn't clear if they were ever filmed or not, but I know in the companion they mentioned loving the idea of Kara being such an awesome flight instructor that she could teach Dee to fly and trap a landing even while she was wounded and high on painkillers. But then they didn't show them! I wish we'd gotten more womanly bonding to parallel Sam and Lee - not that I didn't enjoy the manly bonding, mind. ;)

Aw, your icon! *squishes mini!Kara*

They really did. Fandom is so weird though. I was just looking at the K/S thread and all the Dee hate and Kat hate - it's like you can't like two women who have ever been in conflict in any way. I always adored Kat, and I saw her going after Kara as being mostly about disappointed hero-worship. The stupid thing is (well, one of them), even if Kara and Dee DID hate each other, that doesn't mean WE have to hate either one of them. I'm a huge Roslin fangirl too, and I don't expect she and Kara will be braiding each other's hair next season, at least not for a while, but I'm not going to hate either one of them because I can understand how their different positions would put them in conflict without either one of them being Ev0l. grrr.....
ext_18106: (Kara the bitch)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...There's Kat-hate, too? Idiots.

Dude, I loved Kat. I know people didn't, but I felt that she was very much a mirror of how Kara had been, once upon a time. Kara vs. Tigh = Kat vs. Kara a very great deal. There are differences (rank, position), but the basic tenets of the younger officer pointing out the fallacies of the older one are still there.

Also. Tigh was once Kat. ALL OF THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.
