I do so love this man...
Someone on Trucco's message board mentioned the hiatus and lengthy stretch of time between seasons 3 and 4. This was his reply.
Yeah, I know, the long wait til season 4 is bulls**t if you ask me. I truly don't understand the machinations of a television studio/network and the executive decision makers (bean counters) who run them. It is my opinion that this could ultimately alienate the audience of a show that's already struggling to maintain the "requisite ratings" needed to stay viable. Thank 'gods' for the millions of loyal and diehard fans that keep coming back. It is for all of YOU that we make this show.
Anyhow, that's my rant. Hope I don't piss off the brass.
I could not love this man more, really...

Umm, in my SG-1 education news, I'm currently watching the beginning of "100 days" and kind of hating it, mainly because I know what's gonna happen.

I don't like it when Jack disparages Sam for being geeky. Geekiness rules, damn it. You know that Kara would think it was hot.

Yeah, and see, that's one of the reasons I have trouble 'shipping them now. Jack has ZERO respect for Sam's geekiness, and isn't above mocking her and brushing off her intelligence. And. Y'know, respect means a lot, to me.
*coughs* Kara says it's hot when Sam babbles about reactors and cloaking fields. And it's a good challenge for figuring out a way to distract her.

Yeah... I've noticed that, about Jack being horribly mean and awful, etc., while poor Sam is broken hearted, blah blah blah... Whatevs.
I'm just having a gross problem with the whole Laira asking for a child thing. It gives me the heebie jeebies. It's just so... ick.

Yeah, when he's mean to her, he's REALLY mean to her. I saw "The Other Side" and it just kind of frustrates me because yes, Jack is sarcastic, but the way he kind of bites off at Sam just annoys me. And she has to take it because he's her CO. I think he eventually comes to respect her, but definitely not until later. And even then the way he kind of mocks her for not having a life/being a science-y loser, annoys me. Daniel doesn't have a problem with it, damn it. It's not like Jack has much of a life, at least from what I've seen.
Respect means a lot to me, too... one of the problems I have with kara/Lee is that Lee has very little respect for who Kara is a lot of the time, I think.

Umm, I can see that. Kara would also make Sam recite science-y stuff -- whether it's the parts of an engine or the periodic table -- at very difficult times. She'd want to see how she can mess up Sam's concentration.

This whole ep is so weird and soap opera-ish... Bleah. And it's over! Phew. I survived. I want happy bickering team-y goodness, damn it.

Jack's life is, um... Drinking beer?
And, yeah, part of the reason I don't like Kara/Lee is his complete lack of respect for her.
*coughs* Um. Yes. I... may have to write that, now.

Sigh. I prefer it when they just do Team-y goodness (I can say this for Cam, with him around, there was a ton of team'y awesomeness).

Umm, you might just have to. And I will probably end up drooling.
I wish Jack tolerated her more. The thing is, the stuff you're watching is late 3/early 4th season. So, he should have adjusted, right?
If that was true, then every time a team member started claiming after a mission that either they were attacked by an alien or see something that no one else does, then Janet wouldn't automatically think they're crazy and need a psych eval or to be locked up. It's all sorts of ridiculous how each time when they're presented with a new situation they refuse to believe it could be something other than the person in question being crazy or cracking up. SG-1 doesn't seem to have a very high learning curve, excepting probably Sam and Daniel.
And I wish he tolerated her more, too... it seems like we get to see Daniel and Jack being friends, and Teal'c and Jack being friends... but Jack and Sam go from soldiers to love interests very quickly. It's not that I don't like the idea of them, because I do, but I just wish he was nicer/more supportive of her at times, her as Sam, not just as his 2IC.

By the way, I really like Jonas, even though I've only seen him in like 3 episodes so far. I especially love in "The Other Guys" when they get taken, and Sam asks Jonas why he's not smiling at his first time being captured.

Yeah. Sam and Jack... Lots of people go on about how they're just the best friends and etc. (I may've even said it before). And, really, I never ever see them as friends. I don't get the Best Friends Forever vibe.
As for Sam not interacting with Daniel, well, Vala is their new toy, so they write her more. sigh.
They still have not learned that two women can exist together.

True. I think that's a problem in a lot of television shows, particularly more action-oriented or sci-fi shows, where there's generally the token woman. Though I did love the scenes where Sam and Vala came back from shopping together... and Cam definitely drooled when he saw Sam in her dress. I wasn't a big fan of the dress, but the cleavage was amazing. Heh.

I think any friendship they could ever have is always undermined by the fact that he's her CO. And though he's more informal or relaxed, he's not that lenient when she talks back, not as much as people make him out to be. He can disparage her and her science stuff, but she can't really say anything back. So for Sam, silence is a powerful weapon. Same with Teal'c. Daniel and Jack rely a lot more on words, I think.
